I'm 25 weeks, and I haven't noticed any *major* differences. I'm usually pretty laid-back, and that hasn't changed much. I guess I have less patience, mostly with DH. But he works nights, and I'm with my nieces all day, and they usually eat up a lot of my patience (especially the super-whiny, temper-tantrum 6 year old). As the day goes on, my patience gets inner, so by the time DH gets home pretty much all my patience is gone. And I get cranky if I haven't eaten in too long.

But I definitely haven't undergone any big personality changes...no screaming or throwing things or trying to bite anyone...at least not in hormonal anger ;)

I think some people do use it as an excuse to not control their temper, but I honestly feel like I get much more irritable much more quickly and my tolerance/patience for BS is much lower. Also, I don't really cry all that often, almost never at movies, but I watched Hunger Games a couple weeks ago and I could not stop crying after the scene when Rue dies! I was so embarrassed because I never cry at movies!

I saw this the title of this thread a few days ago and thought, "nope! hasn't happened to me!" I'm 35 weeks now and yesterday afternoon I had a break down. I cried and cried because I wanted to clean all day but I was way too tired. Then I cried when my son was napping because he had been throwing tantrums all morning...I just felt like I needed help and I never have any.

I thought it was just a one day thing but then DS woke up at his usual time this morning (6am) and I knew I had to get up with him but I was so sore and tired so I asked DH to and he did....but they were LOUD and DH made eggs at 6:30 (which I can't stand the smell of) and I came out of the bedroom snappy and horrible. I really want to control it and be happy but I'm really on edge, I never do this!

Maybe I'm just rude from being uncomfortable now? Who knows.

@duckduckkristen: I also had a general and overall sense of well-being while I was pregnant. It was almost like a high and everything was just fine. I did, however, cry at things like commercials or sentimental stuff more easily which I don't generally do.

I find myself a little more emotional like crying at things that normally wouldn't affect me so much. And I'm more sensitive about strange things - like MIL wants to come visit after DD2 is born but mentioned staying in a hotel and that got me going about why is she even coming then and are we just supposed to be her private chauffeurs and it's not like we don't have room and... there I go again!

I didn't have any issues with emotions, my hormons made me break out into hives for 3 months, and again post partum. Not fun.

It is funny to me because I heard all about the "raging hormones" and the crazy things pregnant women did to their husbands. My mom always told me she would throw things at my dad and once tried to bite him, and she is usually super laid back!!
I am 38 weeks pregnant and have not felt moody or snippy once. If anything I feel happier with my husband and those around me. I do however cry easier....even at commercials!

@duckduckkristen: I get really bad PMS, too. It's like a war zone right before AF. I, too, worry about how I will be when I get pregnant. My DH would love it if I became more laid back. I really hope that I am and not the opposite. I don't think the DH could stand me being moody for 9 months.

I've def been more of a crier... I've also gotten annoyed very easily. The only person I really "let it out on" is DH. and he's gracious about it...

I have been weepy, angry, and mercurial. I can mostly hide it, but I do get frustrated very easily.
I try not to take it out on anyone, but it is something that I struggle with and put a lot of effort into.

This was the worst part of pregnancy for me. I often said to my husband, I don't like this person that I've become. I was highly emotional and the smallest of things could trigger a meltdown or waterworks.

I was weepy but on two occasions I had explosive meltdowns triggered by something stupid like a misplaced book. I'm not proud of these meltdowns but they did happen and if you ask my husband, he'll tell you that those were the scariest two days of his life. LOL.

I had NO hormonal issues during pregnancy. It was so weird. It was the happiest I had ever been!

I also don't like when people use things like pregnancy as a crutch but hey, hormone changes can be a crazy thing. I used to get PMS when I was younger and you really can't control yourself very well sometimes!

i do agree that many people use it as a crutch, and I don't like that either. I was feeling very needy throughout my pregnancy, I would have serious lows when I was alone, like when DH worked nights, I got very lonely. One night he was supposed to go out with his friends, and I started sobbing because I didn't want him to go, and then I cried even harder when he stayed because I felt bad! But I was really only "needy" with my husband, not other people.

I feel like I've been on drugs for the last 8 1/2 months. haha. I used to get really bad PMS, so I thought pregnancy hormones would make me a raging bitch, but it had the opposite effect. I'm soooo laid back now and it is almost impossible for me to get upset about anything. DH says he is just going to keep me pregnant forever since I am so much nicer, happier, and more loving. :) I'm just hoping the hormone crash after birth doesn't make me crazy!

I would so they only person I snip at is DH when I've hit my wall of exhaustion and since he's the one I'm with the most. I have noticed a shorter fuse then normal but I do my best to keep it to myself!

The hormones have made me a weepy and probably a little less patient. I'm not snippy or angry with people. But I would say I'm probably not overly sweet either. I'm tired and sick a lot of the time and I don't have patience for BS. : )

I keep hearing/reading pregnant people saying things to the effect of: "I can't help being p'd off, I'm hormonal!" (Not on HB!) I make an effort to "help it," personally, although sometimes I do better than others. I know that hormones can make a person moody, but in some cases I think people use it as a crutch to act however they want and be treated like a princess...

But I noticed that I don't get very angry or snappy, most of the time the hormones just make me weepy!

Am I being too unsympathetic? Should I cut people some slack? Maybe I just don't realize how hard it is to bite your tongue or be reasonable because the hormones haven't gotten to me (yet at least!) in that way. What do you think?
