The difference for me between 15 weeks (puking all the time) and 16 weeks was huge. I felt totally normal in terms of energy on our trip; though my sleep wasn't so good due to my belly (& having to sleep on my side) and a hotel bed that was too soft. I will say though that on the way home we got stuck in the airport for 6 hours due to a mechanical issue and then spent a lot of time on the plane (7.5 hrs. including 1 hr. on the tarmac)... I was sporting a pretty decent size bump at that point and felt uncomfortable jammed into the middle seat for that long. I sort of made the decision not to do anymore long flights like that for the rest of the pregnancy if I can help it. I would recommend packing lots of snacks, bringing a water bottle, and getting an aisle seat! Also dressing in layers... I found I was a lot hotter than my husband while we were stuck on the tarmac! I handled the trip pretty well. The only thing that has made traveling annoying in the 3rd trimester is the swelling I've experienced in my feet/ankles. I went to Lisbon for 4 days at 28 weeks and the swelling was pretty bad from all the walking. But that's my only complaint. I also flew transatlantic at 19weeks and returned at 22 weeks, no problems whatsoever! I am worried about being far from a hospital if I needed one but I think if it was an emergency we would work it out! Totally plan a trip if there are lots of bathroom breaks and you're not going to be hanging out in 100 degree weather all day. Keep in mind that you'll probably feel out of breath more easily, so you might not want to spend your whole trip hiking. A few days were for work in CA and then we did a babymoon in Boston for the rest of the week. I felt fine. That said - I did drive to NH for the night to visit family around 5 months (4 hour drive) and I barely made it. Lots of soda and snacks during the drive! I bought an inflatable cushion and that worked really well. We went hiking and everything, so I say plan it!! I wasn't on a vacation, it was a business trip--so at the end of the day I was zapped. One of the major differences is I do everything a bit slower - walking, getting ready, eating, etc... As long as you listen to your body and not over do it, you should be fine. However, any later than 5 months I personally wouldn't go in July if going to a hot area. Too much to handle for me. (7 months now and couldn't travel for 2 weeks.) Now at 21.5 weeks I feel great! Sickness is gone, appetite is back, and most importantly, my energy level is back. We took a long weekend trip around 25 weeks. My feet got sore but that was it, even after walking miles in crappy flip flops. I could still probably travel relatively comfortably now at 32 weeks. I would be more concerned about traveling in the first trimester if TTC doesn't work out exactly according to schedule. I would not have been happy traveling between 8 and 15 weeks.
