My mom did though and she was shocked. It was sooo freakin' funny. Everyone got a kick out of it. One of my best friends was at my house when we got the BFP beacuse we were going to visit our other best friend for the weekend. I told my other BF when I got to her house since I was still in shock. We kept it quiet until after the blood test came positive, and then we told our parents in person. </p> <p>Just a warning, those who you trust to keep a secret don't always keep a secret. My best friend told her mom (even though I asked her not too), who then told her best friend who happened to be my BIL's mother. He knew before we announced it to my siblings, since we wanted to do it in person. I was very upset at her! I had to tell a few close friends at 8 weeks b/c we go to a wine expo every year and I couldn't drink and there was no way to hide it... if that hadn't of come up, we would not have told friends that early.<br /> I told my boss around 10 weeks, mostly b/c I was worried about my doctors appointments. Told the rest of the office at 12 weeks and went public on FB at 14 weeks.</p> <p>For our parents, we took a picture where hubs held a sign that said "WE ARE" and I held a Prego sauce can. We began telling more people after we heard the heartbeat and still more people at 12 weeks - only to find out the baby had died at my appt at 12 1/2 weeks. I stupidly just did not think it would happen to me, I guess. </p> <p>This time I really am not telling anyone until we get past that second appt at 12 weeks. Two friends have guessed and I've confirmed it but it's so hard not to tell! With our DD we told my parents when they came for a visit, my FIL got a phone call since he doesn't visit often. With my current pregnancy we made a video of my DD wearing an "I'm a big sister" t-shirt; she was sitting in my husband's office chair and while he was videoing, I spun the chair around so you could read her shirt. We called the in-laws because they live out of town, and told my parents in person. I basically just blurted out “well…..you’re going to be grandparents this summer!” Doing cute type announcements really isn’t my style.</p> <p>We asked the parents not to tell anyone, which was somewhat successful (MIL told everyone right away lol), and we told close friends within 1st trimester. They were the first to know. Everyone else of importance we told near the end of the first trimester. </p> <p>For my (extended) family we did a photo. On Super Bowl Sunday we were all gathered for lunch and DH had us come together for a group shot. Before he took the shot he said, "One, two, three say, 'Joy's pregnant!!'" And then we called our OOT siblings. We waited to announce it to everyone else for the reason that you said, and I'm glad about that because I did end up miscarrying the first time. I didn't want to talk about it to anyone, and it would have been extra hard to have to tell more people, or even just know that they knew because somebody else told them. I waited until I was ready to talk and then told my close friends. We told them at 8 or 10 weeks, and we announced to everyone thru facebook once we hit 12 weeks.</p> <p>This time around we called our parents again, but this time I told my best friends by just showing them the positive pregnancy test. I think I threw it onto the table. Haha.
