Some of them were plain pink and others were pink with "it's a girl" written on them. We shoved them all in the giant boxes and then taped them shut and wrapped them in wrapping paper and put huge bows on top. We then dropped a box off on each of our parents' doorsteps. My aunt is an amazing baker, and I love her red velvet. I asked her if she could do red velvet for a girl and blue velvet for a boy. She's already on board and super excited.</p> <p>I really like the balloon idea, too. Maybe we can send balloons to some of our family that's further away and wont be there to see the cake? I ordered blank puzzles off amazon and had my husband write on them "It's a ..." and decorate some other pieces. It was a great way to involve him since he enjoys doing that kind of thing and is good at it. I have the puzzles (one for each set of parents) wrapped and ready to go with one piece missing. Tomorrow when we find out we'll write on that piece and keep it hidden. The parents will have to do the puzzle and it will drive them crazy that "the" piece is missing. Then, we'll give it to them. We kept it a secret and wrapped a huge box with pink balloons and had each of our families unwrap the gift and its a girl balloons floated out. They were totally caught off guard since we weren't supposed to find out until the next week. Or cookies with the gender written on or iced in a corresponding color? My neighbors had a giant cookie with the gender written on and when their families opened the box they got to see, but I know you said it's not possible for everyone to get together. </p> <p>Your ideas are cute too! It's not possible for us to all get together at the same time so I'm thinking of ideas for telling individual people/couples. So far I have 2 ideas:</p> <p>1) Have balloons delivered to them at work/home. Possibly include a note inside one of the balloons so they have to work to find out instead of seeing pink/blue and knowing right away.</p> <p>2) Making a puzzle. You can buy blank puzzle kits and draw your own. I thought about coloring them pink and blue and leaving out the center piece. I would wrap each one up and have them put it together and then hand them the center piece last that would either say boy or girl. I wouldn't tell them there's a piece missing so the whole time they're putting it together they would be in suspense. </p> <p>So..which one would you go with? Or do you have other ideas? </p>
