I fully intend to call the moms, send them an e-mail with the positive HPT, and ask them to check their e-mail. :) They are halfway across the country or on the opposite coast, so options are limited.

We bought onesies and bibs that said, "I love Grandpa/ Grandma gives the best hugs/ Grandpa digs me" and gave them to our parents along w/ a frame that said "I love Grandma and Grandpa" with a picture of the HPTs in it.

My mom opened the frame first and has bad eyes, so she was trying to read the frame and figure out the picture, so I just made her open the onesie. She finally got it :)

Hubs' dad tried to read the frame and got confused, and hubs' mom opened the onsies and immediately started to cry.

My dad opened the onsie, smiled (and probably thought to himself, "WTF did she get me a tiny shirt?"). 5 seconds later, he READ the shirt and said, "REALLY?!"

We had copies of the ultrasound pics made and framed. We gifted my husband's parents on Xmas Eve last year and my parents/sister on Xmas morning it was perfect for us. It was so hard to keep quiet for 9 weeks!

The best response we got was from my father in law who'd never really seen a U/S pic- he thought it was a picture of a hurricane!

My dad is a carpenter and will be making the baby furniture. So, I've been saving pictures of things I like and will ask my dad to sit down and look at some things I'd like him to build me for Christmas, birthday, in general, whatever. I'll throw some dining room tables or china cabinets in there and then click through to the baby furniture. He should get it immediately.

For my husband's parents I'm not sure yet. If we give them gifts they'll know immediately so I think we'll do it when his sister is around. Her name is Bethany and we always watch National Lampoon Christmas Vacation and crack Aunt Bethany jokes. I think we'll go with something related to that but don't have any ideas yet.

I wanted to do something cute like give the smokers two cigars, one with a pink ribbon, and one with a blue ribbon, and a card that said something about smoking only one in February.
But although we wanted to wait, DH couldn't contain his excitement and we told my mom right away, and called his folks that night and he called his dad Grampie on the phone. Nothing spectacular, but he was just too excited to keep it secret even until I saw the doctor to confirm.

Luckily for us, we found out right before "National Grandparents Day."
So we sat both of our parents down and had them open a "Happy Grandparents Day" card. It was so fun!

Yes, I plan on everyone having the same fortune cookie saying. I think most places I've found online to make them sell them at a minimum of 50 fortune cookies...so we will have extras. I might try to make it more generic, like "expect a new bundle of joy to arrive around ______(month)" so that way we can use it for grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

We'll call our moms when we get a positive HPT, then I guess call our grandparents/siblings when we hear the heartbeat. I'm basically the last kid on my mom's side to have kids (that actually keeps in touch with my grandparents), second on my dad's side, and he's about midway in his family (he's the oldest of five, too, though the first to get married). So us having kids isn't really special to anyone but his immediate family (I mean, my parents are looking forward to it, but my nephew lives in their town, and we're halfway across the country. Though if my mom comes, it'll be her first live birth. My second. Joy.)

At Christmas I was 10 weeks pregnant so the hubs and I thought it would be good to tell them through their Christmas presents. For my BIL, his name is Ben, as a gag gift I bought a bag of Uncle Ben's rice and wrapped it up all pretty. At first he had no idea what was going on except that I had gifted him with rice. Hehe. For our parents I bought picture frames that says, "Grandchildren are gifts from above" and in the photo area I had a card that said, "July 2011". Both sets of parents seemed confused (we had only been married for 8 months and weren't expecting us to be pregnant) but when it sunk in, our mothers freaked the eff out.

We gave them baby stuff, but neither of our mom's got it! My mom thought we were just giving her an elephant item for her collection (it was an elephant onesie) and his mom thought that we'd bought her a shirt that was much too small (even thought it said "my grandparents think I'm cute") His dad got it right away and said congrats. His mom heard and figured it out, but my mom didn't get it until his mom asked about the due date, then she had to ask, just to be sure. It was a great breakfast! We MC'd 3 weeks later, so I imagine second time around we'll just tell them; everybody hurt so much the first time.

@TheMCMom... that's what I'm thinking of doing! My husband's entire family will be together for Christmas, and it's a pretty obvious time to get a family picture. I was planning on having smoeone take a picture of all of us, and my husband will say "Everybody say cheese!" And then have the person taking the picture say "One more, because so-and-so had their eyes closed!" And then on the second one, have my husband say "Everybody say MamaLove is pregnant!!!" And that way we have all of their reactions in a picture!! I'm not sure that it will work out so perfectly, but we'll see!! I thought that would be a fun way to tell his entire family at once.

I haven't figured out what to do for my family yet... it would be just my parents at first, and then my brother & his family a few days later.

We told my in-laws while my husband took a picture of me standing with them. He said "everyone say 'McMom is pregnant!'" and I brought out the u/s picture. Well, that's how we told them about Wombat.

For Moose, I made copies of Moose's u/s at Walgreen's, bought little picture frames, and handed it to my Dad after we watched Up in the theater. It was so perfect.

My brother sent out a mass text message that said, "Jesus is coming 12/24" and included a sonogram picture. It was the weirdest thing. Mom had to call him to ask what he was talking about.

We're going to tell them at Thanksgiving with a little stuffed stork that says "Special Delivery" on it. I can't wait! :) Then I'm sure Mom will call everyone she knows ... hopefully after we eat. I'll tell my friends slowly. I want to tell them in person.

I haven't been able to do this yet (we will start TTC in April 2012), but we already have our plan.

For my parents, we are going to call and tell them we are bringing over chinese take-out for dinner one night (they live an hour away). So, after dinner there is of course fortune cookies- which we will have had specially made which will say something along the lines of "Expect a new grandchild in your lives around ______(date)" or something like that- haven't figured it out exactly yet! I still have plenty of time to figure out the exact phrase! I can't wait to do this!!!

We just had them over for dinner and told them. We were boring.

The first time we didn't want to do anything too creative like give them baby items for fear of miscarrying.... and then I miscarried :( So the second time especially it was kind of bittersweet. I didn't want everyone to get too excited b/c I was scared of miscarrying again.

But I love hearing everybody elses cute ideas!
