She gave us 2 names that are in our network. I looked them up online and one had glowing reviews. We went to a meet &amp; greet session that she has once a week with expecting parents and decided we really liked her. It was pretty easy, but we're also pretty easy going. We could go around and speak to them, they gave out handouts about their practice, and we could ask any questions we wanted. So we went to that and narrowed it down to two. </p> <p>I went home and told my mom about the two that we picked because my dad's a doctor so he knows other doctors in the area and I wanted their opinion. His old pedi didn't pick up on the signs at all. My OB also gave me recommendations on which ones from the list she has heard good things about from her patients.</p> <p>Ultimately we chose based on location, whether we clicked with the ped and their stance on vaccinations/medications.</p> <p>Note though that even if you choose a specific pediatrician if it's from a group practice the ped that will check your baby at the hospital will likely be whomever is on call. I chose a friend who was a couple years ahead of me in residency. No brainer... but when we moved to Utah, Lala was due for her 4 month check and we needed a pediatrician right away. I knew no one, so I had to ask around. I asked all my colleagues who they recommended and a few names kept coming up. I then looked for a practice where I was going to like the other docs in case I had to see them. We went to our hospital's open house, and they said we can either choose one affiliated with our hospital (who would see the baby after delivery), choose one outside of the hospital (a hospital ped would see the baby while we're there), or don't pick one in advance and have one assigned to us.</p> <p>How did you decide who the right pediatrician was for you? I don't have any friends who have children nearby, so I don't have any local recommendations. Did you start by looking up your insurance to see who was in-network, then go from there? Did you actually "interview" the pediatrician? Did you check out their offices?</p> <p>Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated! </p>
