I think whatever the theme is should either be sentimental or symbolic of their personalities. From an early age my daughter has definitely had her favorites, so it was easy for me. #1 was a very pink princess party, #2 was a backyard sweet mermaid party and #3 was at the zoo and it was a girly princess ballerina monkey theme. With DD though I've chosen an EXTRA girly "pretty in pink" theme b/c I know that I may only get a few years of her being girly.. It is a foundation that will donate $100 to a Childrens hospital if you have guests donate instead of being gifts. His cousin has leukemia and his hospital was what we were fundraising for. </p> <p>Next year, we will probably again ask for donations instead of gifts but I'm not sure about the theme. Maybe Mickey mouse clubhouse??? All I know is that we are going to have a bounce house. I've gone to parties where parents picked because it was their LO's favorite TV shows (which I completely don't get, my LO is 14 months and refuses to watch TV), an animal based off of their favorite stuffed animal, etc. </p> <p>My LO's first birthday was a rose garden theme because her name is Rose, and I'm thinking that her second birthday might be based off of her favorite song Itsy Bitsy Spider. If that's still her favorite song..... we'll see! </p>
