We knew we were done at 2 and I got rid of things as soon as we didn't need them. Also, we've never had the space to store things, so it helps keep down the clutter.

I gave all our stuff away after DD1, but knowing that it would come back for DD2 since it was to a close friend. And I've been giving away DD2's stuff as we go along to different people. We're not totally settled on being done (more likely done for now), but I figure if we have another down the road, people will be generous and give us hand me downs too!

We were getting ready to list our house and it was taking up too much storage room in the basement. If we do decide for a 3rd, it will be 4 years later, so new stuff will just have to happen. I'm 90% sure we are done with our two girls.

We have 3 already and I'm almost 36 but what really sealed the deal was a stomach bug that brought all the memories of morning sickness flooding back. I'm DONE. We were like 90% sure before so I did get rid of a lot of our stuff but now I'm ready to just pass along everything. Just need the motivation to actually do it!

The boys are 5 and 2, and we're 100% sure we're done. I started selling some of the bigger things that have been sitting in our basement, and it's so nice to have more room again. There's no reason for us to be keeping a high chair when LO2 gave up high chairs once he was mobile, and it's nice to know that there are others out there who are able to use the things that we used quite a bit.

I'm pregnant with our second now. We're both 99% sure this will be it. I cannot wait to get rid of the baby stuff after this go around, it takes up so much space! I wouldn't hold onto baby stuff in case of a surprise pregnancy, that's not very common if you're using birth control.

We always knew we wanted just two. Even though after my second was born, I felt torn about wanting more, my husband was 1000% done, so as soon as my youngest started outgrowing clothes, I gave them away (or tossed them, depending on their condition) and have been getting rid of baby gear slowly as we stop using it (toys have been harder to get rid of, but I'm trying).

Whenever I see a baby, I get baby fever, but I know we're done and I'm really happy with where our family is now (almost 5 and 3) and I'm excited about the next phase in our lives. I have zero regrets about getting rid of stuff!

I held on to DD's things until we found out lo2 was a boy. Then I gave away her entire wardrobe to a friend who had a daughter.

We kept big things to use for DS. Now that DS is outgrowing things I am giving them away to another friend who is 12 wks pregnant. She's getting everything.... car seats, stroller, baby tub, vibrating chair, bouncer, pnp.....

We know we are done having kids so it's awesome to get it out of the house.

We are 99.9% sure we aren't having a third. I want all of this crap OUT of my house. If we do have another, I'm positive I will want new things as it would be several years from now and I imagine the gear we have now will seem outdated. I'm sentimental about clothes so I'm keeping lots of those but I do not want to store any plastic crap.

We have one and are about 85% sure we don't want a second. We're still giving a lot of stuff away to friends that are having babies now. We figure most will be out of date by the time we have a second anyway/we'll want to buy some new things.

I am pregnant with our third which I knew was on our minds so I kept our gear - but we had only minimal unisex stuff anyway living in small places. I’m glad I kept that, but the people I know who had a surprise or later third baby generally seem to be plugged into finding it used or getting from other friends who are finished (I just acquired a really nicely kept snap n go that way - something I never owned before). So I think it wouldn’t be that expensive for the basics. Our infant seat expired so we already have to replace that just based on spacing.

Clothes wise, when we found out our second was a boy I gave all my girl clothes to my SIL except for those I found really special or were really nice. I expected they would get ruined as she’s not careful with stains and such. Now we’re having another girl and for one, she’ll be completely off season to #1 (even if you plan it you never know what you’ll get) and two, even though I’m only 15w my mom already wants to buy alllll the girl clothes because this is her last grandchild and I want to buy stuff too. Between that and what I saved I don’t wish I had saved everything - plus I better know what I need and where to find affordable stuff. So I would just save special pieces and clear out everything else. I love making space in our small house with no basement and I’m selling all our gear this time as soon as we pass each stage!

We have two LO’s, 3.5 and 8 months. I really want to get rid of the stuff, but deep down I want a third so I’m holding onto it for now. Once we make a definite decision we’ll move forward. I know if we have a third we‘ll be DONE so I’ll get rid of stuff then. Can’t wait!

When we made the decision that we were done we took permanent measures (vasectomy). If I do get pregnant it’ll be one of those very rare cases! So we get rid of things as our youngest outgrows them now. It is the BEST! No more storing things!

I gave away some of our bigger gear right away. DS is almost 5 and I've spent the last 6 months selling & giving away a majority of our baby stuff. Now here I am 2 months pregnant.

This time I know where to pick things up cheap and there are many things I won't get this time around.

Mine are 3 and 4 and we’re pretty sure we aren’t done, but we still go rid of almost everything. I wanted the space and since I was anticipating a large-ish gap between #2 and #3 I knew I would want new stuff. Now that I’m seasoned, I know how to get stuff cheaply anyway.

I have a 3.5 year old and a 6 month old and I'm 98% sure we're done. I'm keeping bare minimum must haves for now, just the most necessary gear and my favorite clothes and donating the rest as we outgrow it. I figure I'll take another year or two to be sure we're done and then I'll donate/sell/give away the rest.

It helps me that my sister had a baby exactly after my second and last baby. So I feel good giving stuff to someone I know needs and will use it, and I suppose in theory I could get it back. My kids are 4.5 and 2 and I feel very sure we are done, unless something extremely surprising happens with my mirena.

That said I still have a lot of the girl clothes (I have two daughters and the only younger kid in my family is my nephew). Recently there was a baby items drive for a local family shelter specifically asking for pajamas and onesies, so I went through all of those and donated them, but I still have all their little outfits in a bin. But big gear I’ve been happy to get rid of when I can.

We just had our second. I’m done
As he grows out of clothing I’m giving away the play condition stuff, selling the nicer stuff on poshmark, and keeping the sentimental stuff to pass on to close friends and family.
Toys and gear I plan to pass on to friends or sell on my local buy sell trade

I say all this, but to your point...my friend just found out she’s pregnant with her third. Total surprise. And she had given everything away. But I’m giving her a ton of stuff and honestly 4 years will have passed since she bought the stuff to begin with for her first so it’s probably due to be replaced.

I think even if you were to get pregnant today, some of the stuff would be outdated or expired. So you can get rid of it and if you do have a surprise pregnancy, you know what you really need and how to get things cheaper than first.

For example, We’re expecting our 3rd any day now (I have 5 and 2 year old) but like our infant car seat is expired. So we had to get a new one anyway. A lot of the blankets have holes or my kids still uses theirs as lovey. And then there’s our stroller that looks rough and I’m sick of the functions so I wanted a new one :silly:

@aprild: Mine are 4.5 and 2.5. I'm pretty confident we're done. I had no qualms about getting rid of stuff because I know how cheaply I could acquire gear now. In my experience it seems like only gear for the first baby costs money. After that you're in the loop on used gear and you almost can't escape it. Even if we did have another in a few years I'd rather have space in the meantime.

DH is 99% sure he doesn't want another baby. We have two boys - 4 and 2.5 years-old. I was on the fence for a while about having a third, but now as my boys get older, I feel less and less like going through the baby stage again. DH says we should get rid of all the baby clothes and gear, since there's no point keeping it if we're done having babies. While I'm pretty sure I'm done, part of me is afraid I might change my mind later or we could have a surprise pregnancy. I wouldn't want to be in a situation where I got rid of everything, and then had to go out and buy everything all over again. How did you decide to get rid of all the baby stuff? Did you regret getting rid of everything after you did? Are you glad it's all gone?
