I've been balancing this for almost three weeks now. It is going surprisingly well. I think it helps that new DD is a much more low maintenance baby than DS was. I try to read him stories while I'm nursing DD, and play with him when DD is sleeping or in her lounger. I've also been taking him to play dates or inviting friends over when possible so that he still has part if his normal life.

I've heard it helps if you can involve your 1st in the care of #2. Dd loves to help me with chores so I think I'll try to let her help as much as possible- even it's just passing me a diaper or getting a burb cloth.

@Mamaof2: I like that idea of putting aside the chores, they will always be there later!

I work FT so it was really hard for me - but usually when my NB was sleeping I would focus on my DS -no TV, no chores, no phone - just him!

I wouldn't say they had equal time - a 2nd child will rarely get the undivided attention your 1st did -but that's ok =)

I am really nervous about making sure I divide time equally between our soon to be newborn and toddler. I know that newborns take a lot of time, and exhaustion sets in, but how did you manage time between two little ones? I don't want A to feel left out, but want to make sure I have time to care for a newborn, and myself as well!
