Sad/disappointed both times. I always dreamt of having a daughter and I have 2 boys. I love them more than I could possibly imagine though and wouldn't change a thing now. And I love that they are brothers. I am considering a third now but DH is not on board yet and I'm not sure I am either.

I was at work (Harmony test results by phone) and I did a happy dance! I was hoping for a girl and that's what I got.

I work in an area that is monitored by video cameras, and there is always someone watching. After a few seconds of the happy dance, I remembered this fact and started laughing uncontrollably thinking about the person watching the video footage and seeing me!

(Eta. My job is not as creepy as it sounds - I work in corrections)

Disbelief. I really felt like it was a boy. LO's gender wasn't apparent on the anatomy scan and I got MaterniT21 after a finding in the scan. I was so sure it was a boy that I even asked after she was delivered if it was a girl or boy!

I was excited and shocked by our first boy. DH hoped and hoped for a girl partly based on the expectations of his family. The second time around, I thought for sure we were having a boy and we did. Having two boys is awesome. When I learned it was another boy, I was excited about not having to buy many clothes or anything like that. Their personalities are completely different. It's great. I would have loved to have a girl, but truly don't miss not having any one. I don't want a third.

I was so excited when I found out H was a girl! I don't have any brothers so the thought of a boy scared me a bit. This time I feel like it's a boy. H says it's a girl. We'll see in about 5 weeks!

I had the slightest twinge of disappointment but I can't imagine feeling that way about my son. I don't care that he is a boy, I just love being his mama.

With my first we were team green and I dreamt we were having a boy. When the midwife held my son up for me to see all I could say was "it's a baby. It's my baby" and I didn't really realize we had a boy for a few more minutes.

With this baby we found out at the anatomy scan. I'd dreamt a few nights before that we'd have a girl, and that's what the scan says too!

I am excited to have a daughter, but part of me was daydreaming about how fun two little boys could be. We're open to the idea of more than two kids though, so it's not impossible. I think my husband would like two of each, but physically I'm not sure about going through pregnancy again.
The
I never know how to respond to people who say "oh perfect, one of each!" I'm sure it's just one of those inane things people say just to say something but it really annoys me. Probably because they assume this is exactly what I want- which it is- but why would someone assume two boys would be less joy?

If it is a girl Yay Sisters, if it is a boy, 1 of each so far :) As we say we want 3!

Honestly, I was majorly disappointed when I found out with both my pregnancies. It wasn't gender disappointment but just that I had such high expectations for the moment and both times we found out when I was not expecting it at all, so there was no excitement leading up to it.

I will say that I had like a twinge of disappointment when I found out my second was also a boy but now I can't even imagine it any other way. I love both my boys to pieces and their relationship with each other is so amazing to watch. I'm sure that as soon as your baby boy is in your arms you won't have another thought about it!

With my first, I was pretty sure I was having a boy - everybody we knew had girls and I was pretty sure it was time for a change. With my second, like a lot of other people have said, I would have liked to have one of each but I also wanted my son to have a brother, and my son is so totally delightful, so I was going to be happy and sad either way.

I really really wanted a boy for #1 and was ecstatic finding out at 17 weeks that's what we were having. For #2 I didn't really have a preference but was leaning towards boy, just because I thought it would make things easier and I LOVE having a boy, but when we found out at 19 weeks it was another boy I was surprisingly sad that it wasn't a girl! I blame hormones :)

I was really surprised both times! First time, I thought girl and he was a boy...second time, I thought boy and she was a girl! My husband has a cousin that was told boy and it turned out to be a girl, so I wasn't totally sure/believed it either time until they were in my arms.

Mainly surprised, because I could have SWORN G was a boy. I called her a 'he' the first 16 weeks, haha. When they said girl, I almost fell over. And even though we'd confirmed at plenty of scans, I still had to ask the doctor to check when she was born.

I'm not sure what to feel about this one, as my priority is healthy baby - part of me is terrified for it to be a boy, because I've LOST a boy, and I just feel strange about it all. Ultimately, we'll just be overjoyed regardless, it's just strange not to know what to expect!

@Jackiedavis87: Same for us. We are one and done and our one ended up being a little boy. I found out via Panorama at 10 or 11 weeks so we had a ton of time to get used to it. I thought it would probably be a boy for some reason so I was not surprised when I got the call. But DW and I (obviously!!!!) only know about girls so we were like, holy sh*t!!!! Now that DS is here though, we could not imagine anything more perfect. :)

It was bittersweet for me both times. Neither DH or I had a strong preference, but the loss of the possibility of life with the opposite gender got to me both times. In the end, I'm thrilled about having two girls and so is DH. I would have still been thrilled if we had two boys or one of each though.

We are one and done so regardless of the sex of the baby it would be the only one we would experience so there was a small amount of mourning for the sex I miss out on.

I was super excited to learn I was having a boy; sad it wasn't having a girl. But if it would have been a girl, I would have been super excited to have a girl; sad to not have a boy.

I 100% thought we were having a boy, and I wanted a boy, so I was really shocked when she said girl! It took me about a week to get used the idea - it was really strange because the whole time before that I had pictured a baby boy inside, so it was like he died and was replaced with someone else I had to get to know. Now I'm so excited to meet her in a few weeks!

I really wanted a girl both times and felt that's what I was having, so I was excited when they were both girls. I would have had some shock and disappointment if it was a boy and I think that's completely normal. Especially if it's your last. I know if we have another and it's a girl I'll be disappointed about not having a boy. No one I know has ever loved their baby less because of gender disappointment.

I really felt like DS was a boy, and he was. I really felt like DD was a girl, and she is. I had always pictured a boy first, so I was excited that was what was happening, although I didn't really have a preference either way. Since DS passed away when he was so young, I had a slight preference that our next was a girl so that people wouldn't replace DS with our next child. I am happy that people still recognize both of our children and that hasn't been an issue.
Now this time, I'm not sure what I want, I see positives either way! They will be 20 months apart, so I think having two girls close together could be awesome, but also having another boy would be so great, and I know DH wants another boy (even though he is over the moon smitten with DD). I have a feeling this one is a boy, so we will see if my predictions go 3 for 3 :)

I was happy and sad at the same time. And I knew I would be. I don't know if we will have a second so the dream of boy vs girl is lost unless we have a second that happens to be a boy. But had my daughter been a son, it would be the opposite. Sorry for rambling lol

I'll admit I was disappointed at first to find out with #1 that I was having a boy (I have 3 sisters and I'm a girl's girl) but the cliche became true that once that baby arrives, you wouldn't want it any other way. I will hopefully be finding out the gender of #2 in a couple weeks and I'm conflicted. Obviously, a girl would be fun but the lazy pregnant lady in me keeps thinking how much easier a second boy would be. We already have boy nursery decor, boy clothes, etc.

We waited until birth to find out. I've always imagined myself as the mother of boys and I had been hoping for a boy all along so I was pretty happy to have my son!
