"Food sensitivities in breastfed babies are not nearly as common as many breastfeeding mothers have been led to think, however."

@Foodnerd81: @bloved: The nurse recommended I cut it out very strictly. Even in ingredients. It definitely was the way to go.

@bloved: I think I'm going to try everything. I'm sure I'll miss some things that I don't realize have milk in it, but I'll try. I'm going to make sure to eliminate soy at the same time.

@scg00387: I think I'll take your approach is slowly trying to add potential offenders back in one at a time.

I just really don't want to give up coffee. I will if I have to but it sure makes it easier to get through the day.

In hindsight I wish I would've just gone for a full elimination diet & then slowly added things back in. P would've been happy within a few weeks as opposed to the five months it took to figure everything out!

Hope you can get it figured out quick!

@Foodnerd81: I sort of half-assed it at first and found no change, then after one rough night I took a militant approach. I cut all dairy, even traces amounts in baked goods, all citrus, all spicy foods, all chocolate for two weeks. Then I added one thing back in for a few days in a row to see if it affected him. Turned out chocolate and anything dairy made him spit up/reflux. Cut out completely and was much happier, reintroduced into my diet at 6 months without issue.

I am going through the same thing right now. By cutting out dairy, are you cutting only obvious dairy like milk and cheese, or also things that are made with dairy? So far I have just cut out the obvious dairy and I have not seen a change yet so not sure if I should be more drastic!

A Nurse suggested cutting all milk products out for a week and I got so desperate I did it. Within 2 days he stopped spitting up and screaming.

I'm pretty sure something in my diet is upsetting my baby's tummy (see my other desparate posts!). I don't know whether it's an intolerance or just something causing reflux. So my plan is to make up some chart where I track what and when I eat, when she is fed, and when she gets fussy.

Is that pretty much what you all did? Of course like a bad scientist I'm also cutting back on or cutting out any suspects- so little dairy and no hummus for now.

Any other suggestions? I'd eAt cardboard for a few months if it makes her happier and sleep better!
