(In my state the Department of Public Welfare does these inspections.) They immediately ruled out some of the centers for me! Out of those that were acceptable, only 2 had openings. I did a google search of all daycares within a reasonable area or driving distance, and wrote them all down. Then I went to the licensing site, and checked for violations. Any center with a worrying amount of violations was axed. After that, I called for prices, and asked friends and co-workers for recommendations. </p> <p>Since I live in a small town, that narrowed it down to about 6, all of which we then visited to get the vibes of the place. 4 of those made the cut, so we put our name on the waitlist. After THAT, I made a few phone calls over the months, a couple visits, and narrowed it down to one based on things like convenience, price, and if the workers were rude to me.
