I don't have a "nanny" but LO attends an in-home daycare that is more like having a nanny but in her own home. I found her by reading the local moms forum we have and then cross referencing her with her care.com profile page. It has worked out wonderfully so far!

I've always found my jobs as a nanny through care.com and sittercity.com.

Nannies are pretty common where I am, and I found that most people have found theirs through word of mouth and referrals. Do you know anyone who currently has a nanny? Maybe their nanny knows someone who is looking for work. We found ours through a local parent listserv. Is there something like that for your area? Another resource is a nanny agency. Often the agencies vet people, which may give you some peace of mind. Finally, I know some people have used care.com. If you're comfortable, that might be an option. Good luck!

I'm a SAHM, but my SIL is looking for a new nanny and they've been going by word of mouth. If they do end up getting a nanny (her mom might end up working PT so she might watch the baby) they found someone who is a nanny for an older kid so that family only needs her after school, and they only need her in the mornings so that would work out perfect.

My husband has been a SAHD for the first year and a half of our son's life but he's ready to get back to working, at least a few days a week for now. I haven't the first clue how to find a decent babysitter/nanny. We have no family anywhere near us and the few friends & neighbors we have asked that have the time have said no :( I need some suggestions please. Thanks!
