I had some great friends that visited us at home play dates in the last few weeks and brought lunch. When we had park or museum play dates, friends would run after DD if she ran off, and that really made it easier for me. DH took over most of DD's bath duties, and often took her out to burn off steam on a weekend. I did go out with her a lot because I wanted her to have fun before baby brother arrived, but it was hard. Friends were really how I got through it.

And yes, TV. TV and Goldfish crackers.

I'm not that far along, but first trimester in this crazy heat was killing me - I kept feeling like I was going to pass out. I got a lawn chair and would pull up a basket of outdoor toys and just sit in the lawn chair with ice water and let my daughter play in the sprinkler, with chalk, draw letters, anything that didn't require me getting up and walking around. I think my neighbors thought I was the laziest mom ;)

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Your laying low day is my active day! Even though I have to get through the newborn days again I can't wait to be able to roll over or stand up or whatever and not feel like I weigh a million lbs.

@birdofafeather: Exactly..and all the cooler areas out and about are so crowded!!

@babynumber1: Thinking we will do some pool time too!

@knittylady: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse has been my coparent the past few days... :silly:

I am 38 weeks and we are doing lots of time at the pool and way too much tv time. If we do outside time, I sit in a chair and throw the ball, she rides her scooter, etc. I am very fortunate to have an independent 3 year old though.

Right there with ya. TV, stickers in a book, markers and playdoh have all been our friend the last two months as we're basically stuck inside since its been 100+. I'm trying not to feel too bad since if I push myself too hard, we all suffer for days.

Embarrassing amounts of tv, to be honest. This too shall pass! I found that the pool was surprisingly less exhausting than expected because it was nice to be weightless. More fun if you have a mommy friend to go with!

It's hard. I have a 3 year old and a 21 month old and am 36 weeks pregnant. It's been insanely hot with absolutely no breaks from the sun.

Lately, my only way of "dealing with it" has been laying low when I can and picking and choosing what active things we do throughout the week. For example, if we do something like the zoo where I'm walking around pushing the stroller and on my feet for several hours, the next day will likely consist of a movie at home and maybe a trip to the library.

Also, my DH has taken over so much of the stuff around the house. My back hurts so bad I can't bear to do dishes, so he has been a life saver in that arena. Delegate as much stuff to your dh as you can!

Also, days at home are perfectly fine for your kiddos. If you don't feel up to it, don't go out. Stock up on play doh and paint supplies and sticker books and just chill in your sweats!

Hang in there! Good luck!

@Charm54: we have DH's mom who takes her for an hour or two on Mondays. (And I am SO looking forward to tomorrow.) but I don't want to ask for much more than that because she was watching her A TON when I was really sick earlier in this pregnancy. My body was totally unpredictable and I had trouble standing up (which is where I'm pretty much at some days now..) And also I feel we all get along better this way. We are touring preschools in a couple weeks though so who knows maybe dd will get into one sooner than we think.

Ugh. I hear you. It was a long hot summer, and while DD and I had a lot of fun, it was freaking exhausting. Luckily she starts back at daycare this week, 3x a week. Otherwise I would be looking into getting a babysitter for a couple hours a few times a week during the day because this last week especially (35 weeks) was brutal.

I feel guilty that I don't have the energy to run and play, but I know it's just temporary and hopefully I can be fun mom again after the baby comes. Might be wishful thinking with sleep deprivation, lol. She's only 2 so she doesn't really understand why mommy needs to lie down. And she doesn't watch TV (not for a lack of trying though, trust me). If she would sit down and watch an episode or two I would totallllyyy be using that to my advantage right about now

Do you have any family nearby? They saved my sanity more than once this summer when I just needed a break and to put my feet up

Especially if hot or cold weather was an issue?

I am so sore I'm resorting more and more to the tv. DD still goes to 3 classes a week but my almost 3 year old is bored at home. (Low-ish fluids several days ago and ridiculously hot weather has kept us home most of the time..) When DH is off we go out and he can do the physical stuff, so those days are usually ok.

Any tips? I'm 34+ weeks now and I feel like if I go all the way to 40 weeks I'm going to lose it! My first pregnancy was a breeze compared to this.
