Middle and high were all train.<br /> My niece takes the school bus to middle and her same age cousin takes the train. She goes to a magnet in UWS. In our state in order to get your "real" license (POP permit at 16) we had to have driver's ed or our parents had to drive like 200 hours with us or something like that. But because I did it all at 14 I just went in and got my license after my eye test since I passed driver's ed and that passed as me passing for the state. </p> <p>At 16 the POP permit has a curfew of midnight, I'm not sure if anything else has been added in the last 15 years but that was the only "stipulation" that I remember. There was one year in high school where I took a zero-hour class that started at 6:30--my mom drove me on those days. And sometimes in high school I would catch a ride with a friend in the neighborhood or take the city bus. The school was 2km away (about 10 minutes by bike).</p> <p>I took public transit to high school (which starts in grade 7 in Quebec).</p> <p>We'll probably end up driving LO to school. Our bus got in an accident and rolled over, and there were some terrible behaviors that went on on that bus in high school. Strong stipulations, you are only allowed to drive your siblings and yourself, and you have to take the shortest route to and from school, no stops except for a gas station (across from school.) </p> <p>We are from a small farming community, so permits like this are very common in the Midwest.
