@Cole: That's so great that its working for you. I tried the Unisom + B6 combo, but it made me so drowsy, even a half tab would keep me unable to function at work. Hence, I went with Zofran.

My coworker gave me a tip about sucking on starlight mints and that helped quite a bit. Drinking hot beverages - hot water, hot tea - really seems to help settle my stomach too. Crackers and ginger ale did nothing for me whatsoever, but keeping hydrated with water and Gatorade helped a lot. Getting plenty of sleep also helps - any time I have a bad night, the morning sickness is even worse. So now, if I have a day or two with spotty sleep, I will take Unisom at around 8pm (instead of Zofran) to ensure a solid night of sleep.

I also keep a sleeping bag under my desk and will use half my lunch hour to just lay down and give myself a rest in the dark. Some people do this in their cars too.

After doing some more reading I realized that for a lot of people unisom and b6 has to be taken regularly. I started taking it every night for the last four nights or so and it has helped immensely. I am still nauseous but I am at least functioning and only throwing up every other day-ish at this point. I feel like I am eating all day but I can only handle such tiny amounts of food at once that my caloric intake is still crazy low. I have lost about ten pounds in four weeks which thankfully (?) I had extra to lose. This stuff is no joke!

I puked at work, that's how I handled it. Sometimes I lay in the bathroom for 15 minutes, sometimes I puked in the car driving to work, sometimes I hung up on people on the phone to run to the bathroom. I'm 10 weeks and finally feeling better, my trick is that I eat all day every day, I cannot go a minute without something in my mouth, It might be a hard sweet, a bite of apple or take me an hour to eat crisps but I keep going.
Noone at work knows yet, one severe day I said I had food poisoning and left 2 hours early but other than that I WILLmake work every day. I don't want anyone to say anything bad about me being pregnant affecting my work (they don't know I've hung up on customers to run away.lol)

I took zofran daily. Plus, I had a pretty flexible job where I could work from home. I did have a ton of work travel that couldn't be re-scheduled and for that I just toughed it out with Zofran, lemon candies, and small sips of hot water or herbal tea. Those were the only things that would help reduce my nausea. It was miserable. Hang in there!

The one thing I found that helped my morning sickness tremendously was a cup of morning wellness tea RIGHT when I woke up. It helped so much.

I had to tell my boss at 8 weeks, as I could no longer hide the debilitating nausea. Unfortunately, even though at 8 weeks it was terrible, it continued to get worse and worse (with vomiting frequency increasing to several times a day--and the nausea getting to the point I couldn't see straight for all but about 2 hours a day). By 11 weeks I had lost 5 lbs off of an already low 18.5 BMI and I finally turned to my doctor for help.

Diclegis (the new prescription pill version of the trusty old B6 + Unisom combo) helped control the nausea and vomiting to where I returned to a productive member of society. I still (at 16 weeks) vomit about once a week and feel moderately green for about 6-8 hours a day but it is so much better than without it is amazing. I also got an Rx for Zofran but have not taken it due to it's reputed side effect of constipation. Since I'm coping fine with Diclegis I haven't felt compelled to add another potential side effect to the mix.

But I would just emphasize that when you have severe nausea/vomiting there is nothing wrong with getting help! You do not just have to "suck it up"! Sometimes doing so is even dangerous--I was so dehydrated when I finally went to my doctor that she tried to admit me to the hospital for IV fluids (I had a super important work meeting 2 hours later that I could not miss without jeopardizing my career so had to talk my way out of hospital admission...and promptly started taking Diclegis which reduced the nausea to the point I could drink fluids once more.)

I was very nervous to take any drug while pregnant but did a ton of research on the medical literature and safety data surrounding Diclegis and got *very* comfortable with its safety profile, myself. One long-term Canadian study even showed that the IQs of children whose mothers suffered from morning sickness were higher on average than the IQs of children whose mothers did not suffer from morning sickness (with more difference shown with more severe morning sickness)--and most comforting to me was that there was no difference in the IQs of the children whose mothers took Diclectin (the Canadian name for Diclegis) versus the mothers who took nothing for the morning sickness.

I made a countdown calendar until the end of the first trimester! It helped me to think "only xx more days..." Although my morning sickness lasted longer than that (unfortunately) but it did improve as my pregnancy progressed. Just do the best you can, ice cold water with lemon, lemon drop candy and sour jolly ranchers helped me as well as nibbling on saltines, string cheese and cheerios throughout the day. Part of my job at the time was to sit in a big room with my co-workers as we saw clients together, I felt like everyone was watching me run out to the bathroom and sneak my snacks but after I announced my pregnancy, everyone said they didn't notice anything and had no clue. Maybe they were just being nice but people may not notice as much as you think!

During my first pregnancy I told a few close co-workers so they knew what was going on. I suffered through it for the most part, but took one sick day during a stretch when it was really bad. It was almost like a mental health day because the sickness made me feel like I was going to lose it. I also brought crackers and jolly ranchers or mints to suck on when the nausea was unbearable. I hope you feel better soon!

I could use my trashcan if necessary and shut my office door. Get a prescription! Preggie pops also help, I'm sucking on them constantly to distract me and prevent me from gagging. My ms has been sporadic, but I feel for you!

I haven't taken any time off work, but I do take naps on lunch break and have stretched them out a little if I need to.

I just toughed through it. I told a few people at work so that they could cover my class if I had to run to the bathroom. I also threw up in my trashcan a few times. Luckily, my kids were amazing about it and took it easy on me when I was feeling really bad.

I'm sorry you are feeling so sick! It's so hard to find the motivation to work when all you can think about is how nauseous you feel. :(

I am just about 8 weeks pregnant and I am really struggling. My morning sickness has been intense although not quite to the hg point thankfully. I have been barely eating and staying hydrated is a challenge. Couple that with normal pregnancy fatigue and I am just having a really rough time.

So what do I do about work? Do I tell them? Take unexplained sick days from time to time? As it is keeping things under wraps is tricky because I just look sickly and I keep dashing to the bathroom. I just don't really know what to do.
