@Cherrybee: LOL being the only woman at my work who has got married in the last year and hasn't had a baby yet, people are already starting to look at me sideways. I can just picture someone putting their hands on my Christmas pot belly and going "Baby!".... Haha shame.

@SweetMamaM: I know!!!! She's a really nice person so I didn't mind too much - but wow!! If I had been expecting it, I would have kept a perfectly straight face and said "What? I'm not pregnant..." but it took me too much by surprise and all I managed was "How did you know???"

@Cherrybee: god, how awful would that have been if you weren't!

Not pg here (well don't know yet) but if you can get away with smart casual any peasant style top would be really good. I was wearing one yesterday and thought that with the gathered draped material, it would be good camouflage.

I was in maternity pants at like 8 weeks, I hear ya. Until I told everyone at 10 weeks I wore maternity pants at home and used a rubber band at work with flowy tops.

I bought maternity pants at about 8 weeks, and wore baggy shirts or sweaters with them. I did have to tell my supervisor early though because when I was about 2 days farther along than you, I got so so so sick (and stayed sick till week 18). :-)

Basically... I didn't manage it! People were whispering from about 9 weeks and two days before my 12 week scan (and so 3 days away from announcing at work) someone actually patted my tummy and said "aaw - little baby!". I asked how she knew and she said she just guessed! But I ballooned really early - you might not!

I was able to hide it until about week 15, but the woman in my department said she was getting curious. I wore a lot of flowy tops (i bought new shirts, not maternity shirts..just some cute stuff) and skirts and almost always had a cardigan on. I was very bloated and felt like I was showing early, since it was my third pregnancy over the past year, so I felt really giant....but people were far less attentive than I was :)

I wore lots of empire waist! Or thicker sweaters in this season will hide it! And also loose tanks with cardigans. :)

@Smurfette: I second the maternity pants investment. I didn't buy any mat stuff aside from jeans (I wasn't working) but I do remember the bloating in the first trimester and it made wearing my normal jeans so uncomfortable, even with the belly band thing which I found tended to ride up. Even if it seems silly to be buying maternity pants so early, you'll definitely wear them later on and for now you will be much more comfortable. Oh, and congrats!

I work in a business dress environment, so I just left my jackets unbuttoned a lot and left the top part of my skirt zippers undone. And I totally agree with @Foodnerd81, no one else will notice any change/bloat as much as you do!

I held my pants together using the rubber band method, and wore longer shirts to cover the gap.

My work dress code is pretty casual, plus I was out of the office for almost 3 weeks in the first trimester between Christmas time off and some work trips I had, so that certainly made it easier. Otherwise, I wore my loosest pants or wore pants unbuttoned with a belt over the unbuttoned part and long loose shirts. I tend to get a little bloated for no reason and find anything tight around my waist uncomfortable normally, which helped when I was hiding the bloat since none of my clothes were tight fitting. And high waisted dresses with tights or leggings were easy. It might be harder if you have a more formal dress code though.

That and remember that no one else is noticing as much as you are!

Get a belly band or go ahead and invest in maternity pants. It makes the bloating much more tolerable. I just wore flowy shirts and dresses to hide the bloat. Cardigans were good too. No one at work knew I was pregnant when I finally announced it.

I am 5w4d pregnant, and already my normal skirts/pants are getting a bit tight in the belly (due to bloat, I imagine). How were you able to hide your pregnancy before you were ready to tell? I work at a history non-profit with a business/business casual dress code and when I gain weight, I gain it right in my stomach.
