I just gave her hard boiled yolk. It's so soft. She loves eggs, but unfortunately she's a bit allergic to them.

We don't have any history of food allergies on either side, so we just scrambled the whole egg and gave it to him. Recent research supports not waiting to introduce egg whites.

@hilsy85: I don't know where I heard it.... Actually it's highly possible that I made it up, lol. I forget so much these days :)

@scg00387: I would have thought about it either, but I attended a talk with a pediatric nutritionist ages ago and that was one of her tips. Her advice is why we're not doing cereals yet either... But I feel there are so many conflicting opinions out there, it's hard to
know what to do for the best, isn't it?
@PurpleUnicorn: We didn't give solids in England either, it was just easier not to and we slacked when she and I were both poorly after and it didn't affect her progress at all so don't worry. .:)

@travelgirl1: haha, no not really. we tried a couple of times to give him a bite of something, but we put it in his mouth for him (which is not true "BLW" from what i understand) and he gagged which freaked us both out. So we've been mashing food and spoon feeding it to him, but not mixing it with anything like BM.....basically we've been really lazy about the whole starting solids thing but i want to get more serious now. i also didn't give him anything when we went to Montreal for 4 days. oh and i think DH has been giving him a taste of his oatmeal at breakfast on some mornings before he goes to work. i usually eat my breakfast after L is down for a nap, so i think i have to change up my routine and incorporate feeding him solids! It sounds like you and A are doing great with solids and that you are really on top of things, so you are inspiring me to get my a** in gear, lol.

@travelgirl1: Gotcha. I am a lazy mom.. I haven't been very careful about stuff like that! It would've never even occurred to me that a baby could react to one and not the other :) Thanks though, good reminder to try eggs (in general)

@sorrycharlie: I would hard boil the whole egg and then pick the yolk out and mash it. Or just do a scrambled yolk!

@scg00387: yup they have different allergens so you should treat them as different foods (we don't really do the 2 day waiting thing but for eggs we did since they're somewhat highly allergenic).

@travelgirl1: hmm I'd never heard of that! I feel like yolk has a strong taste, you could probably taste it even mixed with oatmeal or yogurt!

@sorrycharlie: ha ha, I don't like eggs so this is partially why I have no idea what to do. For sure I'll have to google actual cooking instructions.

@hilsy85: I thought each new food should be introduced on its own first so they can fully taste it as a single food?

@mediagirl: I'm going to sound like a total idiot here but to scramble do you need to use milk?

he was probably 7 months at the time. now egg yolk is one of his fave finger foods - ill boil him a whole egg and he picks out the yolk and throws the whites around :)

I have never cooked an egg in my life. So I'm curious too! And I'm going to sound like a dope - could I separate the egg yolk from white and make "scrambled" egg yolk for my DD? She's 8 months. Is hard boiling an egg yolk same as hard boiling an egg, just pick it out? LOL. Eggs gross me out!!

we started egg yolk early, maybe around 6 months?

i hard boiled it and mashed the yolk with a tiny bit of breast milk or water! he really liked it :)

it's such a tiny amt of liquid i wouldn't hesitate to use water at all... also that way it doesn't really affect the taste :) only add a tiny bit at a time... the first time i added too much and had to throw it out cause it was like egg soup :( hehe

A is doing well with fruit and veggie purees and I'd like to give her som egg , yolk too for the iron. How should I serve it? I read I need to hard boil it so can't do a runny egg yolk but I imagine the texture of hard boiled will really turn her off. Should I blend it with breast milk or will that still be pretty yucky? Sorry about the random comma, my stupid phone won't let me delete it!
