My LO is the opposite of yours, he's been fighting his morning nap with everything he has for the last week or 2! I don't think I'm ready for the transition to 1 nap, and he does seem better rested when he has 2..I guess we'll see!

He stopped taking his first nap. He would lay in his crib and talk to himself, but he wouldn't sleep.
We did 2 naps until about 19 months, so I was grateful we got that long out of him.

@rahlyrah: I would try either capping the morning nap at 1.5 hours or extending the time between naps 30 minutes. A 30-45 minute afternoon nap isn't a bad thing! Sleep begets sleep is for newborns and at this age, they do max out on sleep.

For my son, if night sleep wa affected by his daytime sleep then we enforced a new schedule.

He refused his 2nd nap completely for like 4 days in a row, so we just went with it. It' was tough bc he still got tired around 3 hours after wakeup, but eventually we moved him to a nap in the middle of the day.

@Sammyfab: His morning nap has been about 2 hours lately. He takes it 3 hours after he wakes up and his second nap about 3 hours after he wakes from the first. He can go longer in between without issue.

We knew he was ready to go to one nap when he had ~4+ hours wake time between his morning and afternoon nap and he was sleeping less at night (going to bed later and waking earlier). His afternoon nap was always short (45-60 minutes).

How long is your LO's morning nap? How much wake time does he have between naps? We transitioned at a year which is considered on the early side. I would try to hold onto 2 naps as best you can!

He stopped going down for his second nap completely. In order for him to move to one nap I would keep him occupied and get out of the house in the morning to push it back.

B has been fighting his 2nd nap lately. It takes me almost a half hour to get him to sleep and he usually only sleeps from 30-45 minutes.

He's only 10.5 months so it seems early to move to one nap. How did you know your LO was ready for the transition?
