I am struggling with this too. DD is 27m and tells us after the fact that she has gone and sometimes that she has gone when she hasn't. She shows interest in the potty but has yet to actually go once on it; I'm beginning to think she just likes getting the toilet paper from the roll and washing her hands afterwards. She has no problem taking her diaper off and it is a struggle to get the diaper on (she wants to sit up while we're doing it).

@chopsuey119: you might as well start since you're home with her every day! I am waiting until I can take some vacation time to do it.

@BoogieBea: cool, glad that method worked! I am planning on doing 5 day potty training.

@Mrs. Sunglasses: she is 27 months and there have been no recent changes so I hope it will be a good time soon!

@looch: she will for poop but never for pee. She sits on the potty every day but most of the time nothing happens.

But on another note, she just pooped on the floor this morning!! She didn't want to put on her diaper and was throwing a fit. I walked away so she could work herself out and then she comes screaming out of the bathroom. I go in and there is a big log about 6 feet away from the potty. Good one!

Can she tell you when she has to go? My son can communicate that he has to poop, but not pee, no idea why. He's 19 months but I am not ready to potty train him right now, lol.

they say any child over 22 months are ready to be potty trained unless there has been recent major change (new baby, bed transition, divorce, move, new daycare etc) Honestly, I started potty training Mavrick before his 2nd birthday. It wasn't going as great as I'd hope, but at the same time... he knows what he has to do but refuses.

Then I realized there was #1 a new baby in the house #2 he changed daycare the week after I potty trained him so ya... in a few months we will pick it up again. But it will be easier because he knows what he has to do and verbilizes when he's going to poo.

I knew he was physically ready for a while because he starting hiding when he needed to do number 2 at around 2 years maybe? He knew he had to go and would purposely leave the room. When my mom was here was us, she tried to make him use the potty when she saw he may be pooping off in a corner. He did it once but all other times, he would just start crying. So we let it go for a while. At around 2.5 years I noticed that he was no longer wetting his diaper overnight. I wants to start potty training again but he still protested. I knew he was just one of those who needed something drastic so a couple months ago we did the 3 day potty training method. No pants, no diapers, no underwear for 3 days. By the second day he was already telling us when he needed to go. About 2 weeks later he was consistently telling us for number 2 as well.

I feel like DD isn't emotionally ready to be potty trained but we are going to try to get it done before #2 arrives. However, she can just about put on her own diaper at this point so doesn't that mean that she is getting too old for it? LOL.
