We are in this transition too. I can still get her to go down at about 2 hours after she wakes up in the morning, but I can also get her to last 3+ hours without any drama. She can last quite a long time between naps too. As long as we don't go for a car ride - the second she's in the car she's out!

If she took a good long nap we could probably move to one nap and an early bedtime. But as it stands we just have a pretty late afternoon nap (2/3 to 4/5) and a later bedtime. We like having the extra time with her in the evenings, though I suspect that late nap is interfering with her nighttime sleep.

There's a post on the blog I need to find, but it goes into how to know if your LO is REALLY ready to go down to one nap. Reading it, I definitely think we will be on two naps for a while longer, but we don't really stick to 2-3-4 anymore to answer your question.

When she started to protest going for nap, I pushed it back which made her go to bed nicely. And we pushed it back and back until daycare started at 13 months where they switched her to one nap.

We just followed our baby's cues. If the naps got later and later, eventually one would get pushed out.

LO was on a 3-3-3 schedule until 10.5 months, when we moved to one nap. We had to do it because she was taking forever to sleep for the first nap, that there was no time to get in another in the afternoon...or if we did, it was 3pm or later and that threw off bedtime.

DD just kept pushing back her first nap until I eventually took the plunge and switched her to one nap around 11 mo. I thought t was too early to switch, but we were running out of time to fit in an afternoon nap and I was tired of fighting her to nap. I follow her lead to an extent, so she still occasionally takes two if she's tired enough.

DD was on an approximate 2-3-3 schedule until she went down to one nap at 12.5 months. She could have still gone to sleep after two hours awake but she fought her afternoon nap and then nighttime!

DS has done really well on a 2-3-4 nap schedule for a few months now. But I'm finally noticing he doesn't melt down right at 2 hours after wake up on the dot like he used to. And his 2nd nap is definitely more flexible than 3 hours, though if we delay it too long it gets too late.

So I'm wondering where we go from here - Does the morning nap just get later and later until it becomes the afternoon nap? How do naps get spaced, do we still stick with 3 hours in between or does that stretch out too?
