@JoJoGirl: Hahahaha! Yes! Maybe try some teething tablets. They take the edge off, I think. That's what I do with J when she's having a hard night...usually helps.

@JoJoGirl: when I called my mom to ask about L's terrible sleep she told me I was a terrible sleeper too. I asked how long it lasted and she said, "until you were 3"! I asked how she could have possibly wanted more kids after all that (I'm oldest of 3). She said, "i think I forgot how bad it was unti, I was reliving it through you."

@yoursilverlining: She loves the icy teether toys and literally drools ALL OVER THE PLACE now. I'll try the gum trick.

@rachiecakes: Um, YES. Although I'm too damn exhausted most days! But.. yes. :)

@emg86: Sigh. I have a friend who said today "it's just a phase.. that'll last a year and a half. But it's a phase." :-/

I can tell when she's crying in her sleep at night & no teether helps her except her fingers or my knuckles. She drools like crazy & her nose gets slightly runny too. She actually doesn't have any teeth yet but I've been able to notice when her gums are swollen. I think a lot of babies teeth for a long time! Kind of comes & goes.

My LO drools like a St. Bernard (aka, buckets!) when she is teething. One thing I have noticed as a way to confirm teething over random "oh hai, I won't be sleeping tonights" is to put my finger in her mouth and rub her gums. When she is teething, she might fuss when I first put my finger in there, but calms when I massage her gum with my finger. Have you tried giving her a cool, wet washcloth to chew on? Cool teether toy? Good luck!!

My first sign was a low constant whine for 2 hours in the MOTN. it sounded like he was hurting so I gave him a 1/2 dose of Tylenol and he went right to sleep. His drool is actually way lower than a month ago. Now I can tell if he's in pain from teething when he won't mouth toys or "bite" down on my finger. The teething pain started about a week ago and now he doesn't seem to be in the same amount of pain. No idea when the tooth is going to pop through. LO is 5 months tomorrow.

She's always teething.

Seriously. Anytime she can't sleep, is cranky, won't eat, gnaws on her fingers, etc, I blame it on teeth. I can never tell!!!

@mrskc: Oh jesus "month or two" of bad sleep?! On one hand, I wonder if that's what's going on... on the other hand, WHEN IS THIS GOING TO GET BETTER. My brain. It's dead.

That sounds rough!

My son drools like crazy, and chews on his fingers all day. Then when they're coming through soon, his sleep is crap. He will be really hard to get down for the night then proceed to wake every hour or two. He would sometimes be unconsolable. The drooling/chewing stage would last for a month or two then we had another couple of months of bad sleep. Even when the teeth cut through, he slept like crap for another month until the teeth were fulling in. ugh! I'm not looking forward to his next set of teeth.

When a tooth popped up.

I had no clue. I thought that I felt something but DH told me that I was crazy. She had increase in spit up, but we thought from an ear infection and cause she was always turning herself onto her belly and trying to crawl. I was expecting lots of drool.

We just went through round #2 for her two top teeth and again so much spit up but not a lot of drool.

I didn't really know! Xander was drooly for months before his teeth popped up and he was always chewing on things! And I didn't see any white bumps or feel anything in his mouth! It was until our 6 month visit that our pediatrician felt his gums and said "Yep, he's teething!" And then I still couldn't really tell myself. Anytime he was fussy, I was just like "I guess because he's teething...?" And then one day his teeth finally popped up! And maybe now he doesn't drool as much...? But he still chews on everything like crazy, so I have no idea what's going on.

I feel the same way!! EVERYBODY is telling me that she's teething because she chews on her fingers all the time and she's super drooly, but she's always done that! I see some *maybe* white bumps, but I don't really think so...

We didn't have any signs so I only noticed when her sharp teeth cut through the gums.

My niece stopped STTN and started drooling a lot a couple of weeks before her first tooth popped in.

Hang in there. Hugs!

I feel like a broken record here, but LO's sleep has continued to get WORSE as time has gone on. Last night she slept 7:30-12:15, ate, then slept til 4am and was up for the day (FML). We tried to let her cry at 4 after eating to see if she could put herself back to sleep and she just escalated and escalated until I went to get her. Holding her and bouncing her did NOT help at all. I changed her diaper just in case (lights off), and finally at 5:30am she settled back to sleep.

She has been rubbing her eyes and nose a lot, mouthing like crazy and drooling, but started drooling 2 months ago and I thought all babies mouth toys. I don't see anything swollen or white bumps, but I don't know what on earth is going on with her. It has become totally unmanageable.

What were your first signs?
