She cried inconsolably for hours and hours and hours, with screaming, arching her back, more screaming. Lots of spit-up even hours after she ate. Zantac and Prolisec did nothing. It turned out she was allergic to dairy, soy, and egg and had to be on prescription Alimentum formula per the GI specialist.

Hope you find answers soon. It's so hard to see your children uncomfortable and in pain.

Mine screamed 12-15 hours a day (may be a slight exaggeration as he didn't scream while nursing). He only stopped 3 or 4 hours after he last nursed. I don't remember a lot now but we found that the symptoms showed up later than reflux. For example he may be okay for the first hour after eating but about an hour later he was inconsolable. He would start what sounded like silent reflux (swallowing). It was just nuts. We had him on reflux meds at 7 days old which helped a little but there were still many problems.

We thought this might be an issue with E, who was screaming her head off and arching her back after every feeding. The doc had me start by eliminating all dairy in my diet for a little over a week. It he came very clear during that week that she was getting worse, not better, so I went back on dairy and we tried Zantac for E, which worked like a charm (especially when combination Ned with gas drops!). If there had been any sign that my eliminating dairy was helping or the Zantac didn't work the doc would have had me bring in a soiled diaper to check for blood in her stool. Depending on thoser results, we might have done more elimination in my diet.

Good luck!

Hello! We are currently navigating crazy reflux and vomit issues with my twins. They are preemies, and reflux is super common for babies born pre-term - but my doctor has mentioned that they may also have sensitivity to food that I am eating (i.e. dairy, etc) and then passing along in my breast milk.

For those of you that have dealt with this - how did you know your baby had food sensitivities, and what kinds of things did you do to solve the problem?

Thank you!
