@winniebee:  say it isn't so!! Don't give in!!

I like the suggestions of quiet time at least in lieu of nap time.

@winniebee: She usually wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00 (I don't let her sleep in past 8:15). Most of the time it's 7 hours from wake up and nap time. I always get her up by 5:30 if she falls asleep (most days now). She's in bed by 8:00/8:15 (bath starts at 7:30).

@HabesBabe: Around 2 is when she was fighting naps and if she fell asleep she would sleep from 2-3 hours and it would take her about 30-45 minutes to fall asleep at bedtime, but she would be happy and chatting to herself and then fall asleep. Now at 2.5 she still passes out at bedtime despite napping about 2.5 hours. She sleeps 8:00pm - 7:30am/8:00am on the days that she naps. On the days that she doesn't nap she sleeps 7:00pm - 7:30am/8:00am.

@sandy: does the 3:00-5:30 nap time interfere with your bedtime? When does LO go down for the night and wake up for the morning?

C wakes up around 7:30 and napped from 1:00-3:30, but now we've been pushing back to 1:30 or 2:00. She cries like crazy for the first ten minutes then falls asleep. I think she's jealous that the baby is still with us when she takes a nap and thinks that we're having fun without her. She turns two next month. Hoping her napping improves soon!

Today he slept for a grand total of 40 mins and woke up hysterically crying. I let him cry 15 mins but he didn't fall back asleep. Today is not a good day.

@winniebee: I feel like naps were the hardest right around 2...I don't know if it's developmental but that's when we had a lot of no naps days here and there. At 2.5 it got much better and and we have them about once a week. For me I really has to push back her nap. She was going down around 1:30 and I pushed it back to 2:30 and now we are napping 3:00-5:30.

I hope he goes back to napping more regularly for you soon!

there weren't any signs. charlie dropped it when he was almost 4 and started pre-k because he couldn't fall asleep during quiet time. too many distractions.

but he still usually naps once on the weekend at 4 1/2!

@winniebee: Yeah, toddlers are weird. She doesn't want to nap after a day of activities on the weekend but will randomly nap 3-4 hours when we just have a chill day at home! :P

I hope he naps for you soon!!!!!!! <3

You'll know she stopped napping when you hear about me getting admitted to the loony bin!

For reals though, she doesn't always nap, but we always put her in her room for quiet time

@autumnlove: I definitely get that daycare is more tiring but with me we do somehingn every morning. Gymnastics, park, 2 hour play groups. Today I pushed back nap and he eventually fell asleep after over an hour - at 2:30. After being up since 6!

Aww, I think daycare just wears out the kids out in a different way. LO is almost 2.5 and I set her down for a nap but she doesn't always sleep. I usually get her after 60-90 mins of quiet time in her crib.

I can't believe I'm even writing this since my son only just turned 2. But how did you know your toddler was dropping their nap? When and how did it happen and how long did you persist with quiet time?

My son is almost 25 months and has been having a no nap day here or there for 2 months. In the past few weeks he basically never wants to nap at home. I leave him in his crib for at least 1.5 hours - he usually plays happily for an hour then starts shouting "no nap all done" and then eventually gets hysterical. But then falls asleep the minute we leave the house in the car or stroller. And, no, he is not sleeping any more at night. Less, actually. And yes, he is crabby and basically won't play by himself ever.

I know he still needs the nap because on days when he goes to school he naps like a dream for them and when he naps at home he naps 1.5+ hours.

I'm 12 weeks pregnant. This can't be happening.
