Never learned. I will never go back to school because it will be a painful process to learn how to study well enough to keep up a grade point average and not get kicked out of a grad school!!

My mom played into my "learning language" which was more hands on, so for a lot of things she helped me make up little songs or mnemonics to remember.

As I got older I ended up coming up with my own ways as well that worked. One of my favorites is 3x5 flash cards.

I also do the outline trick too! I usually made my own study guide because either my professors made crappy ones or didnt give us any at all.

@Alivoo01: Haha hilarious, me too!

Kinda sad for both of us and/or civilization at large tho huh. Oh well! There's always Wikipedia to remind us of what we've forgotten!

I just keeping reading and memorizing stuff to cram in my head for the exam. Once the exam is over, whatever poured out of my head onto the paper, stayed there. lol

I'm still not sure I've learned to study. I invented ways to learn languages, but when it comes to other topics I still struggle.
The things that come naturally (art, writing, history, language) I just... get. And the things that I struggle with (math, math, math) I just still suck at.

I had a Social Studies teacher in 7th grade that was just always in a crabby mood and slightly angry at everyone.

Anyway despite our mutual antipathy, she actually had a big impact on my life. One time everyone in the class did poorly on a test she gave, and she got really mad (as usual). So she told everyone that when she studied back in college, she used to turn her chapters into an outline and then memorize that. We went through a few chapters as a class and outlined them, and everyone's grades went way up. It was amazing.

It turned out to be a really useful tip not just for that class, but for every class I took in junior high and high school! It definitely improved my ability to cram textbook crap into my feeble memory. I always wondered why teachers didn't teach more tips on how to study and learn stuff, as opposed to just throwing information at the students who retain almost none of it.

In any case, thanks Mrs. Myers! I still don't have warm feelings towards you, but you did improve my life and for that... I salute you!
