Our layout is very similar except where you have the nightstand, we have a ladder bookshelf. The top shelf is where we presently have the camera setting and is within the reach of our 13 month-old. I like the idea of mounting over the closet. The bottom of the camera fits into the part where the mic goes. I like it because it's really easy to adjust and move. They are like super duper velcro that snaps together and adults have to work to get them apart. Granted LO is not big enough to try pulling it off so I have no idea how it will work when she gets older. It's worth a shot though. It's pretty far from the crib so she should never be able to reach it. The cord hangs down the wall away from the crib.
