Just came across this blog on the issue of monitor mounting and thought of this thread!

When we move we'll have to move ours as well. Right now it sits on the corner of his crib, but he is getting to where he can pull himself up so we need to move it.

@MamaG: were lucky becuase the cord isn't anywhere near her reach right. I don't want to pin the cord against the wall becuase we take the monitor with us sometimes when we travel.

@PrettyLizy - thanks for the picture. Our layout is very similar except where you have the nightstand, we have a ladder bookshelf. The top shelf is where we presently have the camera setting and is within the reach of our 13 month-old. I like the idea of mounting over the closet. I'll just have to find away to secure the cord along the wall, and make sure the cord is long enough.

As stupid as it sounds, we have ours attached to the mic stand from "Rock Band". The bottom of the camera fits into the part where the mic goes. I like it because it's really easy to adjust and move. We haven't had to deal with any issues with it being close to the crib because my son is only 6 months but I think we could just move it further away once he gets older.

video monitor cords have been a cause of strangulation and caused summer infant to recall a lot of their monitors last year.

ours is mounted high up on the wall with the hardware that came with the monitor so olive can't reach it.

ours is similar to @prettylizy: except it is on the wall where the back of her crib sits against. Its high enough to see the whole crib and so she cant reach it (it has a zoom and pan so we can see up close) and the wires go horizontal along the wall with the wire clips until the corner

We have ours on the wall hung with nails up high so I can see the whole crib. She flips and spins and moves all over so I needed to get a far away vantage point to see the whole crib.

We have to figure this out this weekend. Our LO is a mover when he sleeps (he moves from one end of the crib to the other) and he knocked over the monitor in the middle of the night the other day.

We have ours mounted to the crib using the 3M picture hanging strips. They are like super duper velcro that snaps together and adults have to work to get them apart. Granted LO is not big enough to try pulling it off so I have no idea how it will work when she gets older. It's worth a shot though. DH ran the wires along the rails so she can get at them and then has a protective cover over them as well.

We had ours mounted on the top of an armoire that was perpendicular to the crib. The cord was mounted along the baseboard using those nail bracket things.

It's on the wall, hanging on nails. It's pretty far from the crib so she should never be able to reach it. The cord hangs down the wall away from the crib. When she starts grabbing, we will probably tape the cord down or use cord clips so she can't get to it.

We need to come up with a new solution for our video monitor in LO's room as she now can reach it where it is setting and pull it down. I'd love to hear your solutions and see pictures if you have them!
