@Lovelife: this is the first time I've seen someone else from Nebraska on here :)

Our first names are names we heard and liked and both agreed on. Our second boy name is one that my husband heard at a baseball game, and my second favorite girl name came from searching by a specific letter. All middle names will have family ties! :)

for a boy we will name him after DH's dad who died when he was 12. His middle name will be somewhat different: Danger. For a girl I am leaning towards a classic name like Olivia or Ava. Her middle name will either by my sister's middle name (Nastassja) or my grandmother's name (Miyo). I like names that are both classic and original at the same time.

After my husband's great-grandmother died he told me he wanted our future daughter's middle name to be his Nana's middle name, Evelyn. It was easier to come up with a boy's name because I am more particular about girls' names. I like names that begin with an L or have a double L in them. And then we decided if we had a girl she would have daddy's initials and a boy would have mommy's initials.

Jazz has a special meaning in our lives because the first words my husband ever said to me were, "Do you like jazz?" so we're naming our daughter Billie Evelyn J. (Billie Holiday). If we were having a boy, his name would've been Louis (Louie) August J.

We're just trying to come up with names that a. aren't names of people who annoy us, b. aren't super popular and c. aren't crazy names that people won't be able to spell. We also want names that are 95% obvious as to the gender. Like Matthew for a boy or Jennifer for a girl. Those aren't names we are considering but they give you the idea of boy vs. girl names.

2 of our 3 girl names are family names that we both love, the 3rd is from a song we adore.

We're a little more up in the air about boy names. My #1 choice is DH's middle name, modified (Evan instead of Evans) which was also his dad's middle name, and his grandmother's maiden name. The other name we like was just one we read on a baby name list that we both liked.

It took much debate, my husband wasn't sure that I would ever settle on one. We finally agreed that if I got another 4D ultrasound that I would narrow it down to 2-3 names.

We started with post-it notes on the inside of the front door and started ranking them and narrowing them down to a shorter list.

His middle name is a family name, first name we wanted something we liked but that wasn't super common, no real inspiration other than it fits and is from one of our favorite John Hughes movies. Funny thing is that all 3 of our finalist names started with the same letter!

Charlotte is after a male friend of mine (veteran of BOTH world wars, faithful husband, great father - his kids adore me too, and befriended an awkward 6 year old girl when he was 96 or so, and remembered me despite an 18 month hiatus in another state. He died at 102, still living independently) - but I had a psycho ex with the same legal name, so I had to use it for a girl.
Grace is a family name on his side (his paternal grandma's name).
Alexander is a name he thinks is awesome (Alexander the Great!).
Ray is my paternal grandpa's name (he was such a good guy that both my brother and I are using it as a middle name.)
Secondary names are:
David James (he likes the name David, which is my dad's middle name. His maternal grandpa's name was James, and I adore the name.)
Bethany/Amelia Jane (Two of the kindest, most sincere friends I've had were named Bethany. Amelia after the Doctor Who companion AND for the nickname Molly, if my husband vetoes Bethany Jane. Jane as in Wendy's daughter from Peter Pan - which my husband is oddly OK with.)

we picked ours from a tv. show. Its also kinda a southern, laid back farm name :) We are hoping her name shapes her personality.. a little farm girl, who isn't scared to go outside and play in the dirt... (sounds odd if your from the city, but were from nebraska.

My maternal grandmother was my hero and my partner's paternal grandmother's name went really well with it. So presto! The perfect name!

However, we are stressing out big time about coming up with a name for #2. We want to love it as much as Cecilia's name, and I just can't imagine anything that will be that good!

We picked our first names because we liked them. We actually picked them in less than a half hour while laying in bed 3 days after we found out I was pregnant. The middle names are family names.

We're still stuck between Caroline and Willa...
Willa was my great grandmother's name - such an amazing woman! And we heard Caroline when we on a trip to New Orleans - she was a cute little, curly blond haired girl with the sweetest personality.

I've heard of many different ways that people found their baby's name. My friend was named after two characters from an 80's TV show that was popular when she was born. Another friend found their baby's name in a book that she loved. We used family names, hubby and my great grandma's.

How did you come up with your baby's name?
