Right now I just follow her lead. She will sometimes tell me poop and whenever she does, I put her on the potty. We have only had two successful poops and most of the time she just sits there and does nothing (but tear off some toilet paper and wipe) and will go 15 or so minutes after I take her off. We try to put her on before her bath and I want to start the habit of putting her on when she wakes up as well. I am not sure when and if we will go all 3 day method on it.

@travelgirl1: I told you that on Saturday she closed herself into your bathroom and was sitting on her potty when I went to go check on her. She is ready!

@tinyperson: L is similar as he often comes in the bathroom when i am there. he sits on his potty fully clothed too when we tell him to. and he loves to put toilet paper in the the toilet and flush! he loves his potty books too and mimics washing his hand when they do it in the book.

i am definitely following this! I feel like my LO has been ready for a while, but I have been neglecting doing anything about it until I have more free time starting next week. I am willing to try the 3 day method, but maybe squished into 2.5 (like friday night to sunday night)....but i remember hearing the best window for that is when they are a bit younger.

I think i will start with longer periods of diaper free at home and constant encouraging to sit on the potty to go.

We're not officially starting till after Christmas (because we're flying and will be all over the place at various houses -- not dealing with it till that's done).

We've had her potty in the bathroom for quite a while, and she comes in when I go. She sits on her potty (fully dressed) and asks for toilet paper, wipes herself and then throws it in the big toilet to be flushed. I think we'll probably start by having her sit on the toilet in the morning and at night to see if she'll go. We'll see how it goes from there!

We have not started yet but I thought I would bump.

I will say that if we are alone with LO and he happens to go into the bathroom with us when we need to go (which happens often) we do say out loud what we are doing... like sitting on the potty... peeing... getting a tissue to wipe... flushing... washing hands... putting soap... washing more... wiping on towel... all done!

I think my LO is ready. She keeps telling me to change her diaper and yesterday she yelled: "Mummy! Diaper change! SQUISHY" when she pooped.

We're out and about for a lot of the day so I don't think we can commit to the three day method.

How did you/do you plan to start with potty training?

I'm thinking to start off by having her sit on the potty every morning and at bed time and try her in pull ups.
