My older son we had to do a gradual approach. I tried cold turkey but it was a disaster. We did a mix of formula and milk and every few days I would just add more milk. Once he was weaned off the formula we weaned off the bottle at 15 months. I just stopped sending them to daycare and only offering a sippy cup first thing in the morning. The night time bottle was a little more difficult but after a few days he didn't cry for it anymore.

My second son was super easy. He hated the bottle anyway so we just did both at once. We had been combo feeding (nursing only in the morning and evening, formula at daycare). He went on a nursing strike about a month before he turned one and the formula I had lasted until about a week before he turned one. I just went for it and he never looked back!

@annem1990: once they hit 11.5 months we gradually start to drop one bottle at a time and replace it with a small meal. And then introduce a sippe cup with almond milk. Most kids don't take to milk right away so it takes abit of time

I started by mixing BM and cow's milk, just in case he was weirded out by the milk. But he didn't seem to care, so we went to just milk. It was pretty easy! We also gave it to him in sippy cups instead of bottles, and he made that switch easily as well. Mostly the munchkin 360 cups and the Philips Avent bendy straw cups.

With DD1 we just cold turkey changed. Stopped formula/bottles, replaced with 1 straw cup of cow's milk AM & PM.

With DD2, she never really liked the bottle so it was easy to stop but we never got her to drink much cow's milk. She still nurses and eats yogurt etc so I'm not worried.

When I weaned/stopped supplementing formula, I switched to a 360 cup with milk. My kid isn't super picky so he just went with it. It took him a little work to figure out the cup, but it didn't take long really.

We did cold turkey during the day. Milk available with their meals and water to carry around the rest of the day. Since it sounds like he's a relatively good eater, I wouldn't stress about how many oz of milk he drinks in a day. I nursed both of my kids morning and bedtime for awhile past one year old, so I don't really have advice there. At one, I remember my Mom switched to giving my brother a small cup of milk right before bed.

DS will turn 1 in about 2 weeks. We have his 1 year appointment in 3 weeks . I know my Doctor will recommend what to do, but I wanted to hear how other mama's handled it as well.

DS currently drinks about 20oz formula throughout the day, 3 meals (sometimes eats a lot, other times not as interested) and random snacks. He drinks from a bottle SO SLOWLY and always has. He typically will chug 4oz right when he wakes up and another 2-4oz before 1st nap. The rest of the day, he typically only takes 1-3oz at a time and then gets distracted and wants to play. He'll want more like an hour later. I am home with him and it's not really a big deal in my eyes. He's just a snacker :silly:

How did you go about starting cow's milk and stopping bottles? Slowly? Switch to milk first? Switch to sippy cup first? Switch one bottle at a time? Cold turkey? I'm so confused as to how to go about this. Any advice?
