Honestly, I have no idea. It was bad for a month. I have no idea how I survived and even drove. It was worse then the newborn days. It only got better cause we sleep trained.

Last night was more of the same. I feel like a zombie! He naps well for our sitter, so I'm hoping we get some sleep-begets-sleep action tonight!

@sorrycharlie: I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. Aaaaahhhhh! :)

Traded nights with DH and sometimes just let her cry a little, because sometimes she'd cry for a few minutes, then stop. She was doing this weird "sleep crying" thing, and if i woke her up, it got worse.

I had a few really miserable weeks at work, but I was lucky that DH traded off with me. Even though I woke up, my sleep wasn't *as* disrupted, even if it was still crapperific.

It lasted months for us. Co bedding helped at first but eventually I just got used to it.

Honestly, the best thing for me was not to get caught up in the labels of wonder weeks, monthly regressions, etc.

we sleep trained at 4.5 months. The regression started before 4 months, but really got bad at the 4 month mark. Then his sleep became perfect!

@grizz: um. I don't know. It was all a blur. Days melted into nights, nights melted into days. LO was waking up almost every hour on the hour for 2.5 months straight. That was when I brought back decaf coffee into my life. I think that's how I got through it. The only saving grace was at the end of it we had a baby that finally STTN. For a while. ;)

GL!

ETA: we tried sleep training twice in desperation. Epic Fail.

I am a sahm, otherwise I think I would have been in trouble! We waited it out an then sleep trained at 6.5 months to get down to 1 night waking. It lasted from 15 wks to 6.5 months for us (off and on).

@runsyellowlites: he's just in the bed at this point... Maybe hooking our co-sleeper back up so that we can have our own space will help us sleep a little better. DH works nights, so little man has taken over the bed :)

Co-sleeping does usually cause more wake ups b/c your light/deep sleep cycles will sync as well as hormone dips/peaks for nursing. I remind myself how great night nursing is for supply & that helps offset my feeling of demise too. lol

Us setting up P's crib as a sidecar really helped me get better rest. For the most part she is in her space so I'm not too crowded & then when she needs to nurse she can just roll over to me & then I roll her back. Before she was in her crib in our room & I'd have to get out of bed to get her.... not getting out of bed has made such a huge difference!

@Silva: I love co-sleeping too! I am so not ready to give it up. I might do a half and half tonight - let him sleep his first stretch in his room (he doesn't care where he sleeps), then bring him back to my bed on his first wake-up.

Honestly, I think co sleeping does make my LO wake up more, but the wake ups are much easier to deal with (and I love it). We waited the sleep regression out, and generally things are a little better on the other side. I know this is when a lot of people reach their limit and end up doing some form of sleep training.
Sorry I don't have any advice, other than going to be early to maximize sleep :(

We co slept until recently at 9 months. Looking back I think DS sleeping in our bed made his sleep worse. During the 4 month regression I would just nurse him when he woke and he would be back asleep quickly (though still waking a ton). Now that he is in his own bed he STTN mostly. I think our movements woke him a lot as well as the smell of milk nearby. However we tried moving him several times before and he just wasn't ready.

I just tried to power through! It did pass, but then we hit more regressions later! :(

We are in the thick of the 4 month sleep regression. I think C got up every 45-55 minutes the past two nights! I. am. dead. I work tomorrow and am wondering how I'll survive. He's not TOO cranky at night... just fussy, so that helps! We co-sleep...could that be making it worse? He wanted to nurse on every waking last night.

What did you do to survive the 4 month sleep regression? How long did it last?
