Then her husband, who was taking the picture, said "On three, say **** is pregnant." They captured everyone's reaction on camera. A couple weeks after DH and I returned home from vacation in March (where he conveniently "forgot" to pack any protection), I had a funny feeling I might be knocked up. I took 2 HPT's--one on a Wednesday, one on a Saturday--and both were what I thought was negative. The second line was so faint that it looked like more of a crease than a line. </p> <p>Finally, Monday morning came and DH decided we needed a definitive yes or no, so he went to the store and bought a digital. I stayed downstairs to take the test, and he went upstairs to our home office to start work for the day. The test was an almost immediate positive! I ran towards the office where DH was trying to convince our aging dog to come upstairs. I basically climbed over the dog, test in hand, and handed it to DH. He said the look on my face was priceless! </p> <p>We sat on the stairs hugging, crying, and in shock. He said he knew all along that I was pregnant and that he intentionally didn't pack any condoms for the trip because he wanted to knock me up while on vacation because it would make a great story. </p> <p>As for the rest of the family, we spent all Monday morning making phone calls! He knew I was going to test that day, but we didn't think I'd get a BFP, just thought I was having a wonky cycle. Anyhow, he had to work late that night and didn't get home until close to 8 p.m. I knew he'd had a long day, so I poured him a glass of his favourite wine and had it waiting for him. When he walked in I said something like, "I know you've had a long day so I poured you a glass of wine." And then I toasted him, but my wine glass just had ice water in it. He caught on pretty quickly after that and got all teary eyed :)</p> <p>We told my mum later that week by buying her a picture frame that said "#1 Grandma" on it. Inside the frame, I put a piece of pretty cardstock and wrote, "New grandma coming soon. April 2013." </p> <p>For my dad and stepmum, we just told them a couple weeks ago right around Grandparents' Day. So I went to Hallmark and bought them a card that said, "You are the best grandparents in the world!" I crossed our "are" wrote in "will be" with a Sharpie. Every Christmas the MIL makes a big fuss over family pictures &amp; it has been my job the last two years to help set up the camera and timer. If we get pregnant before Christmas my idea was to set up two cameras one recording and one taking photos then time it &amp; have everyone count to three; One, two, three, WERE PREGNANT! For DH, I had been wanting to test starting at 8 DPO -- we were actively trying for a few months but this was the first month I knew we had timed everything right, thanks to my temping and charting. He told me not to test so early and to wait -- it was Memorial Day, I was 10 DPO and I promised. Then he went for a walk and I ran to the store to grab a FRER and it was positive, so when he came home I said, GUESS WHAT? holding the pee stick behind my back and he was like, YOU'RE PREGNANT? And he wasn't even mad I tested lol.</p> <p>It wasn't until 8 weeks that we told our family, I'd had some spotting and I was nervous. My dad lives in town so once we had the heartbeat U/S and the spotting stopped, we told him on Father's Day, I gave him his Father's Day card/gift and then I handed him a picture from the U/S and said, we have another present for you also. It didn't look like anything though so his wife had to whisper to him that it was a baby!</p> <p>For DH's family, they all live in New York so he just called them on the phone. I sneakily woke up every AM before him to test, and one morning I got the first, very faint BFP on a cheapie! I snuck out to the local grocery to get a FRER and digi to confirm, as well as a little sock monkey onsie and bib (he gave me a sock monkey one year as a silly stocking stuffer). I confirmed with the FRER (digi wasn't positive that day but was the next) and wrapped the test up with the little outfit in a shoebox. I told him that I had found some shoes on sale for him. He opened the box and said how cute the outfit was, but he was confused! Haha. The line on the FRER was there but faint. He didn't know that a line is a line. Once I explained that he freaked out and hugged me and his face just lit up like a million bucks. It was a lot of fun. We got preg our first try. It was around thanksgiving and we were staying at my parents. I was already a few days late with my period, but I was choosing to ignore it. I figured if I had an early loss, it would be best if I didn't really know I was even PG. I suspected I was though. dH asked me about it casually and I told him I was late. He freaked and made me take a test right then. It was positive :) We were shocked!</p> <p>For our parents, we waited until Christmas. I was 8-9 weeks and had had my first u/s. We bought each family a Picture frame ornament and put the u/s picture in it. Best Christmas ever. Well I was leaving to go visit a friend for the night 3 hours away, so I took another test wtih me and it was positive again so I sent him a picture of it and said "IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!" </p> <p>For our parents we had lunch/dinner wtih each set and told them in person! We wanted to see their reactions! We then waited until our 8 week appt to tell our families. With his parents, my husband asked how Obie (their dog) would feel about being an uncle, which backfired because for half the conversation they thought we were just getting a puppy!</p> <p>We did much better with our gender reveal, I think. We made a video using puppets made to look like ourselves to make the announcement.
