I had DD in our room until just about 5 months. I started doing her naps in her crib somewhere around 3-4 months, can't remember..then around 3 weeks ago (haha it's all a blur!) I put her in her crib for the first stretch, then took her into bed..then kept putting her back in her crib all night.

She LOVES it. The first night I obsessively watched the monitor. Now I'm totally fine, and I'm legit one of the most anxious people on the planet!

ETA - her first few crib naps were swaddled, til she dropped the swaddle at 3m old. then I put her down after rocking or nursing, now I can put her down awake!

@mrsjyw: :D Thanks!
@mrs. wagon: Wow! The princess got the master suite! So fitting! My DH would NOT be okay with that, but it's an interesting point you reminded me of - not letting the baby get used to us being in the same room. I will move the crib to our room this weekend and try to slowly move her closer to her room!

We had her in the UBV bassinet in our room (it was on top of the bassinet attachment of our pack n play) for a while... then we set up her crib next to our bed. Then we were having such trouble getting her to sleep, we let her sleep in the rock n play next to our bed. That way we could rock her to sleep but still lay down in our bed. Eventually I started to worry about letting her sleep in the rock n play, we just transitioned to the crib. I think we tried a few times and one day she was just ok with it. We didn't want her to get used to us being in the same room as her, so we slept on an aerobed in the living room...!!! The whole master suite just for the little princess. Haha. Then when my mom left we moved Wagon Jr. into his big boy room (formerly the guest room) and moved LMW into the nursery. It went pretty well. I cannot remember when we did what. :( it was all just a fog.

We tried transitioning him around 3 weeks but was hitting his 4-week growth spurt and was up every hour, so we brought him back to the RNP. We're going to wait until after 6 weeks to try again though I think he's over the worst of that spurt right now. The only way to get him to sleep is swaddle and rock so I'm worried about abandoning the rock n play, we might have to rock in our arms but that takes much longer.

@mrsjyw: that's a great idea! Doesn't that make the crib sheet shorten and pull up at the sides though?

Maybe the etsy one will be justifiable but DH might freak out b/c her mattress was already over $300 + organic mattress pad cover was $60 each too. Goodness the babies get better bed stuff than us!

@shopaholic: We actually ordered 2, my mom ordered one from Holy Lamb Organics for LO. It's a custom made order but we got it within a week (they stated about 2 weeks on their website) and made a huge difference in how well LO have been sleeping. We love it.

This is the one he's currently using (Quilted crib topper):
http://www.holylamborganics.com/babypages/crib.html

This is the one I ordered on Etsy and the one that Mrs Pen recommended, still waiting for it to arrive, it's been 3 weeks.

She spent her first few weeks co-sleeping with us (like on our chest) or in the swing. Then we got a Snugabunny bouncer as a gift and since it cradled her, she would allow us to put her in it and bounce her to sleep.

So for a few weeks, she slept in the bouncer and one of us was on the couch right next to her in the living room.

Then we experimented with putting her in her bouncer, but in her own room.

By 8 or 9 weeks she was okay with being in her crib and didn't need to be in the bouncer anymore.

We had her in a swaddle sleep sack the whole time.

Our son slept in the RNP in our room until about 5 1/2 months. I was a paranoid FTM and I just didn't have the guts to move him any sooner. He was still swaddled at that point so we did the crib & no swaddle transition at once. It was a sucky few days but he adjusted pretty quickly. He's almost 1 now and if I wake up in the middle of the night I still look at the monitor to make sure he's still breathing so sometimes you don't outgrow the anxiety :).

We still have LO in a crib in our bedroom at 9 months because of the way our house is set up, it's just way easier. When we transitioned LO was approx. 4 months and I was just at the point to start letting her CIO. We were going to put her in the crib AND let her CIO at the same time. Well she had ended up falling asleep with no crying and slept through the night.

We let LO sleep in his bassinet until he was 4 months old. Then we tried transitioning him into his crib at that point, it didn't work out. He co-slept with us until 7 months. I felt like I barely slept from 4 to 7 months because I was so worried we were going to suffocate him. Even at 7 months we had a hard time because he was use to our pillow top mattress. Eventually we had to buy him a lamb wool mattress topper that @mrspen recommended and he finally was willing to sleep in his crib.

We just bit the bullet and did it ! What we did find was he prefers to lay on his side so we swaddle in a swaddleme blanket then lay him in on his side. We keep a rolled a+a blanket behind his back ! I keep the monitor on my side of the bed!

I started having him take his naps in the crib around 1.5 months, so he was used to being in the crib (and perhaps associated it with sleep). The transition for us (when he was around 3 months old I think?) wasn't difficult. When he slept in a bassinet in our room, though, it was on a flat surface.

We started transitioning C at 2.5 weeks old. She hated the PnP because it was too flat but we have a soft mattress cover for her crib mattress and she sleeps in there no problem.

At first, we just did her in there for her first long stretch of sleep (like 6-7 until 1-2am) and then we would let her sleep the rest of the night in her swing. Over the course of a month or so, we put her in there all night.

I did freak out for the first couple weeks, but I got over it. We all sleep SO much better. She's a noisy sleeper.

we had his crib in our room for about 5 months.... probably too long (dh surely thinks so! haha) but i guess he did sleep in his 'crib' since birth, then. when we finally moved his crib into his own room, i don't think he noticed.

LOL! So I originally thought and planned to have K sleep in her own room in her own crib from Day One (or at least by Week One). HAHAHAHA #firsttimemomdelusions

I get so worried about her, it's been impossible to even think about her sleeping in her own room! DH will have to go back to work in a week and I thought I would try to transition her by then, but how do you do it? Stare at the monitor all night?
She hates being put down on flat surfaces! For now at one week, she can sleep in the SnugaBunny in the living room and in her UBV bassinet at night. She HATED the bassinet the first night, but I put a snuggler pad in there for cushioning and she has been okay with it for a couple of hours at a time. I know it's probably against SIDS rules or something, but I check on her constantly, and she is a really fidgety baby so if I don't hear or see her move for awhile, I look over at her.

I tried laying her in the crib yesterday and she had a total fit! How did you make the transition to sleeping in her own crib and nursery? Should I move the crib in our room and try that for a few days and then move it into her nursery?
