@betsyboop: I was worried about it too but he didn't seem to notice or care or even show a preference for the breastmilk.

Thanks everyone. For whatever reason, I'm very nervous about how she'll react to the switch but it sounds like I may be worried for nothing!

I give LO a breastmilk bottle in the morning and evening but all of her bottles at daycare are made with formula. She has no problems switching back and forth and my frozen stash should last us until December!

I currently add 1oz of formula to each of her bottles. I started doing this because she wasnt gaining enough wait and also because I thought my supply would have dried up by now. but still going strong at 6.5 months

I started by doing every other bottle breastmilk and formula. He didn't mind going back and forth. But then we switched to 100% formula after he continued to have bloody poop with my milk. He didn't have any problem with the switch!

To make the switch, I would mix 1 oz of formula with the rest breastmilk. Next bottle I'd do 2 oz formula, next 3, and so on until he was drinking all formula. Once he was comfortable drinking formula, I gave him all formula bottles and his bedtime bottle was a breastmilk bottle. This stretched out my frozen stash to last him until he turned 1 year old and switched to cow's milk.

They say they only need 2 bottles of BM a day to get the benefits from it. I would give 2-3 bottles of BM a day and the rest formula to extend out the benefit as long as possible. Especially if your LO is like mine and didn't object to switching between formula and BM.

I started by doing bottles of 1/3 formula to 2/3 breast and over the weeks slowly change the ratio to all formula. Now LO is on formula during the day at daycare and has no probelms with it. She does prefer it warmed up and will drink it fast that way then room temp.

As LO approaches 6 months, I will have reached my goal of feeding her breast milk exclusively. I also have about 2 months of breast milk in the freezer.

I'm wondering how I should start incorporating formula (in what quantities), and how long I should feed her the breast milk/formula combo before switching to exclusive formula? Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!
