Sounds like a clogged duct and possibly mastitis. UGH. I had mastitis twice and it was horrible! Sounds like you got rid of the clogged duct which is important. Good job to your LO for unclogging the duct!! :)

I also read somewhere that clogged ducts could lead to mastitis...which is why you want to be aggressive in making sure that boob is empty.

Im thinking it's a clogged duct. I had one a few weeks ago. I also woke with chills and a fever. I kept massaging my left boob while nursing/pumping, took hot hot showers, nursed only on that side and pumped the other. I made sure it always got emptied out as much as I could. I took tylenol to reduce the fever twice. Keep hydrated and eating healthy especially if you're nursing. It gets tedious and you might not be sure whether it's gone or not but keep up with it and it'll go away soon. :)

I suffered for days ignorantly thinking it was normal. Then one night I downed like, 8 extra-strength Tylenol (not at once) and thought, "This isn't normal"...I suffered a bit more, ended up crying because of the pain and finally went to a walk-in clinic and presto! Mastitis. I was given antibiotics that started working within minutes of taking the first pill.

I've never experienced it... but I think Bee wrote a few points about it. I would search the blog.

I woke up in the night with chills and a high temp yesterday as well as an extremely sore left boob. I took advil and nursed on that side evn though it was extremely painful but as LO emptied my breast it felt much better and the fever went down. That side still feels a bit sore and tender, does this sound like mastitis? I already have an appointment to see my doctor but just wondered if there is anything I can do in the mean time
