Well, when I went back to work at 6.5 months, he started getting one bottle of formula during the day, so I was feeding 3-4 times a day (more on weekends). When I finished work we went on a trip to Canada for 5 weeks and he started getting 2 bottles a day and I gradually started only feeding morning and night, sometimes one additional time if he was really worked up. That drop wasn't planned but it just worked out that way. When we got back from Canada, he was really sick and losing weight, and I was so stressed that my supply plummeted, plus I wanted to be able to track his consumption. I started giving him a bottle in the morning, and then one night he would not stop biting me, so I'd say we made the mutual decision to stop! I guess overall it was about a 5 month process, really gradual, but when we finally fully stopped it felt super quick! I was mega engorged for a couple of days, but we haven't looked back and he's now a total bottle monster!

Sorry for the novel - good luck!

I just finished weaning LO2 2 weeks ago. We did it very gradually over about 2 months. It also helped that she is in daycare half days. The last 2 weeks we only nursed in the morning and at night, and then only at night.

Gradually! We cut out his daytime nursing and/or bottles and he started eating more solids and started having almond Milk at 11.5 months. We were down to am and pm sessions and then down to none the last month just before 13 months!

I've been thinking about slowly starting to wean my almost one year old. I want her to be fully weaned by June at the latest but preferably May. I know I have some time so that's why I want to do it slowly and cut out a session here and there until I'm down to zero.

How did you wean? Did you take it slow? Go cold turkey? Which sessions did you cut out first?
