Not exactly the same situation, but I just finished weaning my 6mo off of MOTN sessions! I woke him up to dreamfeed an hour before he usually wakes up to nurse, then over the course of two weeks decreased the time on each boob. After he was down to 2min each side, I stopped and the next night he slept right through!

We did don't offer don't refuse (much. I would totally refuse if he asked in public at a time I didn't expect he would need to nurse so I wasn't dressed for access or if he was using it as a stalling tactic). I also just shortened sessions slowly. So he could ask to nurse but I decided how long. Eventually we got down to just nursing after waking up from nap and first thing in the morning. They were so short my supply had to have been minimal, but then I got pregnant and DS weaned himself the rest of the way anyway.
ETA: don't take the pregnancy route if you want your body back :silly:

DD was 21 months when we weaned and we were down to a session before naptime and bedtime and occasionally at wake up. I just had DH put her down for bed at night for about a week and at nap I would lay down with her but not nurse. There were definitely tears (from both of us) but it only took about 3 days before she was used to the new routine. She still asked to nurse sometimes, but wasn't too upset when I told her no.

I never could figure out how to get her back to sleep in the middle of the night though- she was still waking a couple times a night to nurse. So we started cosleeping after her first wake up at that point. Still doing that at 28 months....

Not really words of "wisdom" but that's what we did.

My LO is 1 now and I'm ready to wean him from nursing! He hasn't ever taken bottles and doesn't know what to do work them, which is fine because we figure no sense in starting now. We've tried a variety of sippy cups, but he by far spits out way more than he takes in. He eats pretty much everything we eat, and loves food. But, he still wakes up at least once at night to nurse and also wants to a few times a day.

I'm ready to have my body back, so does anyone have any wisdom to share?
