We went cold turkey at 15 months. I tried many sippy cups but she didn't take to any of them. And then I found the Zoli straw cup and she liked it so we finally had success! It was stressful though. Her milk consumption went way down for a while until she got used to the straw cup so I had to give her a lot of yogurt and cheese. But now her milk consumption is on track again a few months later.

However the Zoli cup has started to leak but I don't want to think about finding another straw cup since we finally got her to like this one.

We went cold turkey around 15 months. My daughter (now 21months) still won't drink milk from a sippy cup, but she eats a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, and milk with her cereal, so we aren't worried about her not getting milk.

After bottles (Playtex Drop-ins), we used Think Baby sippies for a while... Maybe from 15 to 26 months... it's so similar to a bottle though that some moms call it a glorified bottle. Anyway at around 26-27 months we cut that out almost cold turkey and used Playex straw cups. Her milk intake went way down, but i just made sure she got alot of dairy from other sources. She loves milk now though. Then preschool helped her to drink straight from a cup bc all the other kids were doing it.

I didn't really have a choice. My son decided to have a nursing strike at 3.5 months. He felt it wasn't going fast enough so he wanted the bottle (fast flow) right away. I was so sad. I was not ready to stop.

We introduced the sippy at around 8 months (straw sippy, no valve) and he took right to it. He only got formula in the bottle; never milk or water. I started giving him milk in the sippy when he was 10 months or so, just off and on. When he turned one, the bottle and formula disappeared and never came out again. Try a simple straw sippy (like something they'd give you at the restaurant). A lot of the ones with valves are hard to get suction from. Charlie is also old enough that he might just start drinking from an open cup!

i did it early at around the 13 month mark. her intake def decreased but it's ok. the peds recommend no more than i believe 22oz of milk on a daily basis anyway. i read somewhere that weaning off the morning bottle is the easiest bc they're the most thirsty in the morning. this didn't work in my case and i wound up doing it cold turkey. i'll be lucky if she finishes a foogo thermos of milk on a daily basis.

I took my time weaning my first of her bottle, i think she was about 20 months when we finally stopped but we did it slowly, got rid of the afternoon bottle then the morning and finally the nite time. You will find once you ween the bottle their appetite will pick up since they are not getting full from the milk anymore. I'm still working on my son but he will let me know when he is ready. He drinks milk fine from a straw cup but like the bottle at night. Also being in daycare where they don't allow bottles definitely helped.

We stopped cold turkey. Luckily for us, he's always enjoyed drinking from a straw. His milk intake went WAY down immediately, but built back up and now he gets plenty of milk.

Charlie still drinks from a bottle at 21 months old. I've tried (although not that hard) to get him to drink milk from a sippy, but he refuses. I think the bottle is a source of comfort for him.

I also haven't been pushing it because he's such a picky eater, and without milk he wouldn't get enough calories each day.

How did you wean your baby off the bottle, and which sippy did the trick?
