It was super simple. No difference at all from sleeping in a crib. We switched around 2.5 and he had no issues with bedtime or napping. It was was easier than I suspected. Even now at 3.5, he calls out for us if he needs us...he won't get off the bed himself until the sun is up.

It's gone really well! We did a toddler bed transition around 26ish months and then just did a twin bed transition a few months ago. He won't get out of bed unless DH or I come to get him so it works out really well for us  He'll just lay there and talk/whine/cry if he really needs us.

He went to a bed at 34 months. No issues with bedtime. But he totally gave up his nap, which he then took about 50% of the time. He potty trained the following month and by age 3 was waking once a night to pee!!!! But now at almost 3.5 he wakes just a few nights a week to pee. I can't blame him though...I wake to pee a lot of the time.

We made the switch at 25 months and it was a breeze, shockingly.

We talked up the "big girl bed' for days and days, took her to buy sheets and pillows, and got her a new Minnie Mouse blanket to snuggle. She's in a full sized bed with a head board and foot board, and it's up against a wall with a bed rail on the open side, so there's really only like a 2 foot area she can get in and out. We taught her "Don't put your feet on the floor until we come to get you" and she stays in bed every night! She's generally not a rule follower at all so I have no idea why she follows that one, but I'll gladly take it.

transition was no problem, except we created the routine of having to stay with him until he falls asleep, which is nice some days, other days it is draining. Interestingly, even though he has freedom to get in and out, it is almost like he is still in a crib, because he won't get out of bed ever until we come get him. I wonder when he will realize. or maybe he likes the service he gets, lol. It has been almost 3 months now since he transitioned.

Much better than expected! We moved her at 23 months to her big girl room...the first few weeks were very smooth. Then she figured out she could get out of her bed and it was a couple weeks of hell. Then we put a stool by her bed so she could get back in and a doorknob cover on so she can't get out and it's drama free again. She lies down and goes to bed. She isn't night trained though so I don't have to worry about the potty yet

@sorrycharlie: it went flawlessly actually! We put a doorknob cover on her door so she can't get out of her room and put a little potty in there for her to use at night. She doesn't wake us up anymore!

Sigh, well we transitioned E over a year ago....and she still doesn't sleep in her bed. We struggle about it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. She wants to sleep on the floor, the couch, mom and dad's bed, anywhere that is not her own! It's bad...we are thinking of going from her twin to a full bed hoping that with more room she will enjoy it better?

No issues with LO 1. We switched LO 2 recently and my two older girls share a room so it has been different. They like to chat before napping and LO 2 crawled into her big sister's bed a few times the first week. Still smooth overall!

When we moved DS to his new big boy room (so we could prepare the nursery) he took it upon himself to sleep in the queen bed already in there. No issues at all. He doesn't even get out of the bed until someone goes in his room to get him (just plays with the stuffed animals on his bed).

We let E have free reign of her room, including the potty chair in there. The big bed transition wasn't an issue so much; it's that she prefers to pile things up on the floor and sleep there, not her bed. *shrug* She also wakes up earlier now that she has access to toys and stuff

My daughter just turned 3. She's still happily in her crib. But she just potty trained and wakes me up (dry!) a couple times a night to go to the bathroom. Which is great but I'm exhausted. I don't know that her having free range of the house would be any less exhausting though, esp since she's up at 5-6. She conks out easy - I'm afraid to mess with a good thing but I know I can't leave her in there forever.
