@dc yoga bee: Yes, my short cycle was a huge bonus when we were TTC. So even though we technically tried for three cycles with my son, it was really only two months. Similarly, we tried for two cycles with my daughter, but we were pregnant the next month after starting TTC. I hope it's the same for you!

@oliviaoblivia: hmm my practioner didn't say anything about withdrawal bleed. I wonder if that's what I had 3 weeks ago?!?

I had a withdrawal bleed (medium to light flew for just a few days) a few days after my Mirena came out and then a proper period (five days heavy to light flow) a couple weeks later.

They were regular 32 day cycles bleeding lasting for five days from then on.

My cycles were a little shorter after going off birth control. They also varied in length.

@SunriseMama: At least with a 21 day cycle we will have more chances to try? But, I totally agree with you!

As a teen/young adult before BC my cycles were 27 days, I think. After BC and while TTC in my early 30s they were around 32 days.

I now have Mirena and have no periods, which is my favorite cycle length :)

I took BC pills for 10 years and had a 28-day cycle. Once I stopped taking them when we started TTC for our first baby, my cycle was much shorter (23 days) immediately and stayed that way for the three months we tried. After I got my period back when my son was 13 months, my cycle stayed 22-23 days until we conceived my daughter when my son was 2yo. From the time I got my period back with her until I got my IUD, my cycle was still that short 22-23 days! Now that I have the IUD, I still get spotting at that interval. I was breastfeeding my son into my daughter's pregnancy and am still breastfeeding my daughter, so that may have something to do with it, but man, I really don't enjoy having a 3 week cycle!

Before baby after I stopped BC pills, still had a 28 day cycle, only I started spotting the day before AF came. Post baby and post Mirena, I have 30 day cycle. But my period is lighter and shorter.

I had the Mirena for 7 months, and had it removed. I got my cycle back 2 days later, and it lasted 3 days same as always. Surprisingly though, I just started my period again after 21 days! I used to have a 28 day cycle regularly. I'm 28, so I don't think it's time for it to shorten naturally just yet. I used to ovulate on day 17, and had a 9 day LP, so I'm curious to see what happens this month. We aren't TTC until the summer, but I am curious what's going on. ETA: I am still breastfeeding as well.

How long did it take for your cycles to normalize, or are they permanently shorter or longer?
