Follow up!

I had a second epi for #2, somehow both spota healed at the same pace, both are totally healed over at 3w pp! My doc thinks the healing of the other helped this one clean itself up too! Whatever the actual answer, it's nice to have the first one finally healed.

It must have never bothered me because up until this moment, I never even thought about it. I just felt up along my spine and I have a small little bump (kind of feels like a tiny scab) that I assume is from the epi? But I can't see it to know what it looks like and I'm not even sure that's the spot that my epi was.

We had our #1s at the same time (yeah Fall 2012 mamas!) - I don't have anything noticeable back there now. But I did have some pain to the touch for a few months after my epi. The actual entry site is healed over thought and completely closed up.

Lots of luck with #2. I would think that they would enter at another point. Especially if they see that you still have something going on back there.

I agree with @kiddosc: though. After baby, I would mention this to my doctor to get some tests run to be sure all is ok.

@kiddosc: I definitely need to mention it, oye.

My IUD incision (laprascopy) took two months before it healed over, then healed poorly as it didn't all heal the same, and got very messy, lumpy/bumpy scar. And now this! Would be interesting to know what the deal is with the lack of normal healing it seems.

Poor wound healing can be a sympton of some disorders, so I would probably have that looked at. I had bruising around the site of my epi because the first Dr. that tried did a horrible job, but to still have a scab in that spot a year and a half later sounds like something might be wrong. Obviously you have other more pressing matters at the moment, but definitely mention this to your Dr. in the future.

For those who had epidurals, what did the spot on your back heal like?

If you had a second epidural with subsequent pregnancies, did they go in the same spot, or somewhere else?

I feel absolutely stupid posting this, DD is almost 19 months old (born Oct 2012) and I am 40+3 today with #2 and finally just clued in what the hole in my back is. I have had this scab that has never healed, I think it's from my epi with DD. It's in that spot, and it's never bothered me (who looks back there?) Obviously it should have healed by now, it hasn't, I can't fix that at this point, but can they go in above or below for another one if needed?

For those who had epi's heal properly, did the spot even scar or just heal over and was forgotten?

I must have some sort of issue with healing, this spot, my IUD removal surgery incision didn't heal over properly either, weird.
