My son started preschool a month before he turned 2 (before that he was just with a nanny during the day, but spends lots of time in a playroom with other kids, and on playdates during the day), and had no problems at all. Ran into the classroom the first day and hardly said goodbye.

My son began daycare (part time, but 5 days a week) when he turned two and he cried a lot, at drop off, at pick up, you name it.

Then he started preschool via a summer camp program a year and a half later and it was a complete change. He didn't even want to be accompanied into the building he was so confident.

My daughter started pre-school 2 months after she turned two. She had previously been at home with my husband for two years, no daycare. She cried the first day just a little bit. She LOVES it!

olive was in full time daycare so the transition was completely seamless to preschool a month before she turned 3. no tears at all much to my shock! but daycare definitely helped. i imagine there would have been tears had she never been to daycare.

to prep her we just talked about her new school all summer and watched the grown ups come back episode of daniel tiger.

Did they go in without any tantrums/crying? If they didn't like it at first how long did it take for them to start enjoying it? Basically how did your LO adjust and were they in childcare before or home with you/SO or a nanny/family member. I'm curious if being around other people and kids a lot before starting preschool helped the transition.
