My LO walked at 14 months. When he was cruising around furniture I always asked him to come towards me and one day he just did over and over again, of course with lots of falls in between.

Aliya was cruising FOREVER. I think about 5 months before she took any independent steps of her own. She started walking right around 13 months, but she seemed very close for a long time, and truth be told, one day she just took a couple of steps on her own. In the beginning, she would take a couple steps here and there and then fall on her bottom, and then after a few days, she was able to take more and more steps.

@Maysprout: Yes! She cries if I stop and try to get her to sit and play. She just wants to walk.... but of course she can't actually walk by herself!

Lol, that's cute. We're camping at the end of October, we're hoping that she walks comfortably by then because there's no good place to crawl around. Not that she likes to crawl anymore anyway.... it's always walking with assistance now!

@artbee: haha and if she's like my LO she was very insistent on practicing.

On walks I'd have her push the stroller. I'd hold on too but she could hold on to the bottom and just walk along, we'd put her doll baby in the stroller. People didn't always see LO at first bc she was so short so they just thought crazy lady was walking down the street pushing a doll in a stroller.

My experience is pretty similar to yours and nyccalimama. LO practiced a lot. And once she started taking steps it was still several weeks before it was her main mode of transport.

our first baby was cruising for at least 2-3 months and didn't really walk til 13.5 months.

our second was cruising for 2-3 months too and took a few steps starting at 12 months. But it wasn't til 2-3 weeks later that I could say she was really, really walking.

My LO is 14 months and seems SOOOO close to walking. All day long she'll climb up onto my legs, grab my arms, and have me walk her around the house. She loves to walk, but still needs someone's help. When she's standing and holding onto furniture I will tell her, "walk to mommy!" and she'll get a huge smile and turn to me.... and then fall face first into my arms.

I hear of so many parents who just say that their kids one day just stand up and walk, but my LO seems to want to practice it a lot first.
