@daniellemybelle: yeah. She was playing in a kiddie pool named in the yard and would just hop out and squat. It was easier than dragging her upstairs, inside, drying off and running to the bathroom. My mom didn't care so I let it go.

Well, maybe it's not that normal. :bummed: For context, she just turned 2 last month and has only been trained about a month & a half. She was 99% trained until the trip - we had accidents here and there but she was really good about telling me she needed to go.

I think on our upcoming trip we are going to just have to go back to the really frequent bathroom trips rather than waiting for her to say she needs to go. I hate having to coax her onto the potty though! She is not into it unless she prompts it.

@Oxana: LO was only potty trained for about a month and a half when we went on this trip. I think 3 months should be fine!

I didn't want to do pull-ups the whole time because I felt like that would send mixed messages. I tried to just do them in the car and on the plane. Not sure what difference it made!

@autumnlove: Thankfully my friends were really nice about it but I felt horrible!

@lawbee11: I'm impressed your DH traveled alone with your LO! I don't think my husband is brave enough haha.

@oliviaoblivia: Haha! That's too funny - did you just let her?

@chopsuey: That's awesome! I think part of the problem is that it is so soon after training.

We didn't travel until 3-4 months after they were potty trained and both of my kids did well. No accidents, no regression.

DD1 did OK. We had a two hour flight and then a two hour drive from the airport without accidents. She was maybe a month into training.
She did decide while at my parents house that she preferred going #2 outside in the grass, but didn't have any accidents.

DH took LO solo to visit his parents about a month and a half after we PT. He did have her wear a pull-up on the plane, but they were gone for five days and I think she had one accident. So she did pretty well even though I was super anxious about it. He just made sure to take her to the bathroom any chance he got when they were out in public.

LO 1 was fine but I am a bit worried about LO 2 when we visit my parents for Thsnksgiving. I'll prob just keep her in a pull-up most of the time because my parents are really uptight about their house! :-)

   You're scaring me. We have a cruise coming up in a month, at which point LO will be potty trained for three months total. I wasn't really worried until I read your post, because she's 100% accident free right now. We've taken her to friends' houses and she's been fine...but this will be the first BIG trip. Gah.

Do you think it would have been better to switch her to pull-ups the entire time you were there? Or that doing that would have set you back once you returned home?

We just got back from a 5 day trip and hoo boy, that was a potty training fail. LO peed all over my friend's beautiful house! She even pooped in underwear once which she has never done. The last day she was in a pull-up all day (we were on the plane or in the car most of the day).

I was sure we were totally screwed but today she's been completely back to normal! She has told us every time she needs to go and holds it until we get to the bathroom. So it has to be just because she was away from home and out of her element. We have not had any issues with going places like the store, playgrounds, friends' houses, etc. but I guess the travel really threw her off.

I'm sure it's totally normal and I'm happy that she seems to have reset without any effort on our part - but I'm wondering if this will be the case every time we travel? We are going out of town again in just a week for Thanksgiving.
