we took charlie when he was 2 and we were worried about tooth decay because he was such a milk addict and we let him have a bedtime bottle. but he was great during the appt and no cavities. none at his last checkup either. charlie actually likes going to doctors and getting his hair cut though...

@anbanan15: Thank for sharing ! My DS also has some staining =\ I am not sure at this point if it is from antibiotics of just stains. When I give DS the toothbrush , he insists on doing it himself, he just chews on it, doesn't really brush....haha.

We took DS a few months after he turned 1 for the same reasons. He had some staining due to iron supplements he was on that I wanted to make sure were not cavities. Thankfully only staining! He doesn't really let me brush his teeth without holding him down (which isn't a thing I like to do), but will brush them himself. Dentist said his brushing looked good!

As far as how they did the exam...she had me hold him facing me and then laid him back until his head was on her lap and she examined him from there while she said the alphabet. He screamed! But she said that was actually a good thing since it forced his mouth opened the whole time and she could look in there easily. They did some minor cleaning of the surface to make sure it was only staining and to clean it up a little and that was it. They will try for a full exam and cleaning next time.

My son is 2 yrs old now and I have yet to take him to a dentist (planning on it soon !), but I 'm a little worried that he may have some tooth decay as brushing his teeth is not an easy thing for me and so most times I just use toothwipes. How did your toddler's first dentist visit go ? good ? or bad ?
