@MrsKRB: 7w- 13 weeks was soooo hard. My boobs were so much more sore this pregnancy. I would also always run by this homeless guy downtown and almost barf for the next 10 minutes. Never happened with DS1. I'm 17w now so I'm feeling better... but I'm carrying around 12 extra pounds (already!) so running and even biking have become tough!!

I workout at a fairly high intensity 5-6 days per week when not pregnant. During my pregnancy I took it a little easier. I stuck to my normal workouts the first trimester and then started doing lower intensity workouts. I still exercised the same amount but did pregnancy barre and pilates.

I really liked Suzanne Bowen's slim & toned and 10 min solution prenatal Pilates.

I didn’t do anything when I was pregnant with my first. I’m really hoping to run through this pregnancy, even though it’s kind of hard already at 5 weeks!

@Oopdah: yes, I totally feel like my muscle tone had gone down. That didn't take long, I only missed like 4 weight training sessions since I found out I was pregnant 😕

@summerfruit: where do you live? Even here in upstate NY, this summer had been brutal. I used to run in the jogger w my son but the 50lbs extra he and the stroller weigh? Nooooope

I kept running as much as I could, but starting the second trimester, I started doing a run/walk mix. I was able to continue using elliptical and cycling till the very end though. There are so many health benefits for mother and baby through exercise; I didn't want to miss out. I also didn't want to become deconditioned as I enjoy distance running. Now baby is almost 4 months old, and I'm back to my usual exercising. I'd be running more, but it's too hot now.

I'm 4 months along too, and my muscle tone has decreased significantly. I do weights and aerial for strength and everything just feels hard. Part of it is not doing it as regularly as I used to-because of nausea and fatigue in the 1st trimester - but I think pregnancy just makes it difficult for me to even just maintain the strength I have.

With my first, I switched to yoga and only light weights pretty early on, but I want to keep up my strength as long as I can this round!

With LO 1, I exercised less but picked back up after 6 months due to work. Bounced back in no time. With LO it was the same except I didn't work out as frequently afterwards. It's been a struggle since that's gotten easier with time. Still haven't bounced back.

I'm trying to get back into a routine and hope to continue doing so should we get pregnant again.

@nana87 I'd love to try parental yoga sometime in the future!

With lo1 I just stopped exercising completely, oops 🤷‍♀️ With lo2, I had been working w a training doing hiit workouts and running and I just couldn’t handle it, it made me so nauseas. And I barely had morning sickness so I knew it was the exercise. I switched to prenatal yoga and LOVED it! I’d always hated yoga before but totally changed my opinion during pregnancy and postpartum (❤️Mommy and me yoga!)

@bhbee: yes, this pregnancy has been harder on my body and I know it's going to get worse- I never got but or uncomfortable at all with DS1 and I've already gained a bunch of weight. Oh well tho, I didn't gain enough with him. I'm not in pain or uncomfortable running yet...just blah every time!
@Becky: interesting how different they were. I ran 4 miles the day I gave birth to DS1 but I think my 8th and 9th month are going to lean towards the good ol' elliptical. Not a bad thing, I'm sure it'll be a workout by then :-P did you lift weights?

@pachamama: Ot was somdifferent with my 2 pregnancies. First pregnancy I didn’t run from 4.5 weeks-10 weeks because I was feeling awful, ran pretty consistently to 20 weeks, the. Dropped to about 3 times a week and mixed in elliptical until 26 weeks when I switched to all elliptical/bike/spin for a few weeks before just going to walking. I did weights throughout. All I had to do was work so it’s not like time was an issue. I’m a big runner/exerciser and picked up right at 2.5 weeks postpartum. Second pregnancy I felt fine so ran regularly until about 16 weeks but not every day. Then I very infrequently exercised. I was so tired and couldn’t justify loosing sleep in order to get up early enough to exercise. I was still going to the gym sometimes when I was 6 months pregnant but definitely dropped exercise by February and had DD in April. It took me about 10 months to get back in running shape but that seems like nothing now!

I’m no example to follow but I do think every subsequent pregnancy is a lot harder on your body, so listen to it and do what feels ok to you. Even just walking can be great for you. I’m 38w with my third and I feel like a total blob because the pelvic pain keeps me from doing much of anything - I’m worried about how out of shape I might feel on the other side! But if I overdo it the pain lets me know so I know it’s not worth it.

I just went to do weights and I can't believe how out of shape and heavy I felt. I'm 4 months so I thought I'd be feeling back to normal like I did with my first pregnancy.
Did you continue working out while pregnant? Quit early on? Feel like a different person exercising?😖
