During that time, I laboured standing up and the contractions were one on top of the other with hardly a break in between. They didn't check again before the epi.</p> <p>The epi pretty much stopped my contractions, but they let me rest for a few hours before checking me again, fully expecting me to only be at a 4 or a 5 as the contractions were so slow and not that intense. Imagine all of our surprise when I was 10 cm dilated! The midwife thinks I progressed really quickly between the time I was first checked and when I got the epi, probably as a result of labouring standing up. Only one was induced and she said that is the most memorable and painful labor, she still vividly remembers it and even still greatly regrets electing to be induced. </p> <p>I was induced as well and it was hell on earth.
