She really helped me and did not charge me. Unfortunate this LC was a little vague on what was going to happen during the consult. She thinks that there is a latch issue, but i think its a supply issue. And this is just a consultation? How long will she be with you? When we had an LC come to us she charged the same amount but was also there for a few hours and watched me breastfeed a few times while helping to adjust the latch, discuss our issues, so it was definitely worth the money to us. I asked her how much it would be and her answer was oh its normally 120 but its a special case so she was going to adjust it but never gave me a ball park. They usually do phone consults for free and meetings are free too ... In response to your question though, definitly PM her and ask how much it'll cost you. I posted on a local parent's board about allergy medicine and this LC who is a mom posted the answer and said to PM if i wanted a consultation. I ended up PMing her today because I was getting fustrated with just drops coming out when I pumped and I wanted her professional opinion if my supply would come back or if I should stop. She suggested that she would need to evaluate and offered to come over. I said okay. So i looked on her website and her rates are $120 an hour. Ouch. So i my question is how do i ask if shes doing it out of the goodness of her heart or if I would have to pay her for the hour. I wanted to make sure i had the money just in case i had to pay.
