We moved into our house when I was at the end of my second trimester for LO 2 and the doors really bugged me. I had DH take them off a few weeks later!

Omg, we had this problem in our old house. I just got in the tub and bathed her. I was ready to rip the glass doors down because it annoyed me to no end!

This is going to sound crazy, but bear with me....my name is MrsLonghorn and I bathe my child in a plastic storage bin. :silly:

We only have 1 tub in our house, and it is and extra deep whirlpool tub in the master bathroom - horrible for bathing our 16mo.
We just bought a giant plastic storage bin and bathe him in that, inside the stall shower in his bathroom. We put the IKEA alligator bath mat in the bottom, so it isn't slippery. He doesn't have a ton of room to move around, but since that is all he is used to, he doesn't seem to mind at all. I'd have to check and see what size the bin is, but it has been fantastic for us -- hopefully we will move to a house with a regular bathtub before he outgrows this magical solution.

It's a pain in the ass. We built a second bathroom in the basement when she was a year old and made sure to have a tub and shower curtain. But you can make it work. It's just annoying.

A friend uses it like that just fine but he just sits there and she leans in to wash him. Once they sit well you don't have to worry as much with them drowning assuming you are always right there.

We have doors in our tub/shower. I had DH install a handheld shower head with an extra long hose. I used to stay outside and just hose him down but now that I'm preg I can't lean over easily so I just get in with him after he's soaked and played for awhile to wash him and spray him down.

I like my tub/shower with doors. I hate shower curtains so we are definitely not removing our doors.

My first thought was laundry basket as well. I've seen bathtub dividers, but never used one. Maybe something like this might work to keep LO contained in the open half? Not sure how sturdy it is once baby gets older/stronger...

@snowjewelz: I think you'll be okay. We had doors on our tub growing up and it didn't seem to be too much of an issue for my parents. Yes, it's a smaller opening, but it's not like your LO can get that far away from you in the tub. You'll be able to grab her quickly if necessary.

We have sliding doors on our bathtub and it has been fine. I've been bathing him in there since he could sit up on his own. When he was smaller I would just place a folded towel on the side of the tub over the guides and lean in. We are renting so we couldn't do anything about it anyway.

Like @rachiecakes: now that DS is almost 4 he closes the doors so he can splash or if he wants privacy (his new thing is telling us he needs his privacy).

@snowjewelz: You can always try it in the bathtub a few times and then decide if it's worth trying something else in the walk-in...we can't take our doors off either - it looks like the previous owners put in a liner over the existing bathtub and then screwed the doors into the liner/wall tile. Taking them out would mean redoing the bathroom. :(

Totally doable. I had a little bath chair that I used before he could move around. Then I would just lean in.
Now he's four and I sit on the floor and read while he splashes & plays, most of the time he shuts the door so he doesn't splash water out, it's great!

My LO took baths nightly in a tub just like that until 22 months (then we moved ). No issues, just be sure to put down a non slip mat and we cut a slit in a pool noodle and stuck it on the track the door is on to protect against falls.

Is the opening on the shower side like in the picture? That would be a colossal PITA to me. We bathe K in the big tub (with a curtain) but I only open the curtain about halfway, because immediately following C gets her shower (which we do with the curtain half open. K sits on the end of the tub opposite the shower and I just don't let her move around much. I kneel next to the tub and make sure she stays sitting, pass her toys, etc. I think that would all be doable if the opening is on the other end.

But otherwise, yah, I'd take those doors out, sorry.

@avivoca: We designed it that way, hahaha. We obviously knew we'd have kids, but aesthetics def trumped logic at the time. Plus it wasn't like I was really thinking about this back then! At first, I was gonna get a big stokke tub or something and continue bathing her downstairs until she's older and just do showers or old enough to help me help her in the big tub.

Not my shower, but pretty close -

So DD (almost 14 mo) has been bathing in her duck tub in our downstairs walk in shower since she was 6 months. She is starting to outgrow the duck tub, but I don't understand how I can bathe her in our tub like that when I only have a very small opening to work with! Or it's totally doable and I'm crazy? I was thinking I'd contain her to where the opening is with a laundry basket... And just reach in as best as I can to wash her....
