Thanks for the suggestions ladies! @T.H.O.U. Yes, still in a crib. She's 34 lbs and 37 inches so just seems like it might be a bit tight in there for her, lol. But I guess we can always do a test run- I do have a thicker PNP mattress.

is she still in a crib at home? We just traveled and kept our really big 22 month old in a PNP because he was used to the crib still. Besides needing a thicker mattress with some extra padding he did fine.

My LO also gets very excited, but as @MrsSRS: said, get a book and ignore as much as possible! It takes mine about 30 minutes of rolling around and trying to talk to me before he will suddenly crash. And I have to put him down because my husband is awful at it - he can't resist talking to him, which starts the excited process all over :meh:

We did bedtime routine as nornal and then either I leave and let DS settle down and slip in later to sleep. If that failed I would sit in a chair reading a book and ignoring DS except for the occasional, calm redirection to bed and settling down. But he generally did best left alone until he was out. DD is an entirely different story...
We also had really, really good luck with an inflatable toddler mattress tucked in a corner of a room and with the same sheets, etc as we used at home. For DS that works much better than bed sharing.

We are visiting family in September and I'll be sharing a bed with my 2 year old DD. She has only ever slept in her crib ( besides a couple of times when she has been sick and slept with me). She's way too big for her pack n' play so that option is out. I've tried co-sleeping before and she just gets so excited and can't settle down. What do I do? She's pretty high energy and takes some time to settle down under the best of circumstances. Throw in being in a new place and sleeping with mommy? Am I doomed?
