Lots of pp suggested cheese, but wanted to add that I like to snack on string cheese. I also would put spinach in my scrambled eggs in the morning. That will also give you iron too.

My LO is allergic to dairy so we eat chia seeds (usually soaked in coconut milk or as coconut chia pudding). Chia seeds have a lot of health benefits, one of which is it delivers 18% of your daily value per ounce, which is three times more than skim milk. Huge plus is that it's also high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Tums. Two of them have 60% of the rda for calcium. So you'd only need to take 4 and that's 1200 mgs of calcium. If you have heartburn, it'll serve a dual purpose!

I used to take calcium chews from GNC before I started doing tums. The caramel flavor is the best one.

For lactose intolerant ladies, lactaid makes milk that is fortified with calcium. I love cereal, esp with this pregnancy so it was easy to get calcium that way too.

Thanks, Ladies! I'll continue my yogurt an cheese habit! I've been eating almonds when I get hungry at work, but I definitely need to up my spinach, etc. It's hard when nothing sounds edible!

I'll watch for those milk cravings. DH would die of shock!

Go for the greens. They're loaded with calcium, and also include the vitamins and minerals that help the body absorb it!

Like @MamaMoose mentioned, I also don't normally drink much milk but it's been my one really big craving this pregnancy. Not so much at first, but definitely as the pregnancy has progressed. You may find yourself wanting it later on.
Until then - how about almond milk? I've seen some with 45% calcium. My midwife also recommended Tums.

Cheese, greens, and yogurt are all good options.

I will say though I've had quite a few friends who weren't really milk drinkers during normal life who drank a TON of milk while they were pregnant because their bodies just craved it. Your body will crave what it's lacking so you may find that milk tastes better to you during your pregnancy.

I am on the other end of the spectrum and sometimes need to cool it on the milk because too much dairy can cause constipation. But I LOOOOOOVE milk. Love love love it.

IIRC, my prenatal didn't contain nearly enough of the recommended amount of calcium for a pregnant woman, it would mean huge pills.

I took the One a Day prenatals, one tablet only has 23% of the % daily value recommended, so I supplemented with spinach added to my scrambled eggs and hard cheeses. I also looked for the calcium that is derived from calcium citrate as it is more easily absorbed and less likely to irritate your stomach.

I'm somewhat lactose intolerant, so I am always concerned about this. Most prenatals have calcium, but often not enough because of the interaction with the iron in them, so you should check the bottle. I try to have yogurt pretty frequently (doesn't bother my stomach at all like milk), and I always have cheese even though sometimes it DOES bother my stomach.

Less obvious choices are dark greens, like spinach, kale, and fortified cereals. I also take a calcium and vitamin D gummy when I remember, so, probably 5 days a week. And, I drink almond milk- even soy milk upsets my stomach, but I love almond milk, and I feel like maybe its healthier than soy with all the estrogen talk or something.

I am not a milk drinker, but I know it's extra important right now to get plenty of calcium for both the baby's and my health. I have an occasional decaf latte and I've been trying to eat at least one yogurt a day, but I know I'm not getting enough. What can I add in, other than milk, to get enough calcium?
